Packing for a backpacking trip can be incredibly daunting if you've never done it before or are new to it! Today I take you through how to pack your entire pack for a backpacking trip. I got into great detail about some theory of packing, how to stay organized, things to keep on the outside of your pack, inside of your pack, and the individual pieces of gear that we use and love! In no time you will be a pro at packing yourself so you can get out there and find some adventures of your own!

Great info, I love how you've whittled down your packing time to 20 mins! That's pro level. You've sold me on the idea of wearing a hip pack for those quick grab items. Hope you both have a great weekend! ~ Brian

Dude backpacking is so much fun! I've been using an osprey for almost 8 years now. My wife and I learned very quickly as we traveled across Europe that good organization is IMPERATIVE! This video is spot on.

I like to use the "Smart" brand water bottles you can get from any gas station to pair up with my Sawyer water filter. They work great for both dirty and clean water, last forever, and won't blow out like the bags will. Also, another good thing about trekking poles is they keep your hands from swelling. When you hike without them your hands hang down and the blood flow causes them to swell. Great video!

MAK, another great video. On the "Sawyer" make sure to never allow your filter to freeze. It will destroy the filter media and render it useless. Keep two Sawyer Mini's in your kit. Consider renting a satellite phone with a least two hours of voice time. If a traumatic injury occurs. You need a competent medical professional to guide you through the incident. That and and a competent person to bring rescue/Medivac services to bare. That and have a travel insurance Policy/provider to reimburse you for just such a situation. This is based upon real world research and seasoned travelers, who've had had to utilize what I've suggested you to have. Just in case it's needed. Cheers, Mate.

All great suggestions! And I had no idea about the freezing Sawyer! So good to know and WOW that would be a problem if it happens. We carry two because sometimes depending on the water source, it can get clogged in the middle of a trip

Such a great and helpful video! I've been watching your adventures over the last year or so and it's been so fun to follow along. One question--what size compression sack do you use for your Sierra Designs quilt? You totally sold me on this quilt, and I would love to get the compression sack as well to help with space and keeping the quilt dry in case something leaks in my pack. Thank you again for creating such wonderful content!

The backcountry quilt it kind of a game changer. I will never go back to a regular sleeping bag I like them so much! But a 10L is what I have! Also, I think most sleeping bags in the spec info should tell you what sizes stuff sack it fits best in!

What a great backpacking video! very informative! I have the same backpack, I am wondering how you attached cord to the bottom of the pack, did you sew it? Thanks.
@BoundForNowhere
@BoundForNowhere Жыл бұрын
So if you flip the pack upside down there are little eyelet holes on the corners (on the bottom) of the pack. We take paracord and run it through the holes out the bottom of the bag. Knot the cord in the bottom corner inside the pack. Then run the cord outside through the loop on the bottom from of the pack and attach a cord fastener then tie the two ends together. The cord fastener allows you to then tighten down around your sleeping pad! Hope that helps! - MAK

We don't use it for editing actually. I've had this little guy for about two years (however it is usually off screen) but I use it as a teleprompter with my scripts on it. I use if for illustrations, emails and we want things on it. We call it "the big screen" HA!

Gotta pack those out! I carry a ziplock bag with me in the outside of my pack and inside my bear bag at night. I wrap them in a little TP and take them out with me as they must not be left as they will take YEARS to break down if they ever do. I also recommend a menstrual cup as you can just dump the contents in a cat hole and rinse it with a little filtered water. That way there isn't any waste to carry out. That is typically what I do over a a tampon or pad! Hope that helps!
