This is a tutorial on how to pack all the 15+ hacks that I have taught for the Stanley Two Cup Cookset. I show you step by step how it all fits together, what kind of MOLLE Carrier I use and then what it looks like attached to a rucksack and ready for the back country.

Went wilderness canoeing in Sept. Did the Stanley system based on your vids. My meals were Mountain House so just needed to boil water. I'm a 67 yr old gal and needed a no muss no fuss system so this all worked well for me. Thanks for making my trip better. When the day comes that I can no longer do the wilderness adventure I'll still use all your hints even when I may have to switch to car camping. When I can no longer drive then I camp in my backyard. I am reluctant to give up. Outdoors makes me happy.

After filming 15+ hacks for the Stanley Two Cup Cookset, I thought it was time to show you how it all fits together in one complete package for packing with you into the wilderness. This has been a fun journey of discovery and I will be on the lookout for more useful hacks that I can film to share with you. Thank you so much for watching and please leave me a comment in the comment section below!

Can you sell this package with your hacks instead of the MSR mess kit on your website?
@WayPointSurvival
@WayPointSurvival 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for asking but you must be thinking of a different website. Mine is www.waypointsurvival.com and I don't sell the MSR mess kit. Also, I couldn't sell the kit with all the hacks because of the time and money involved. It would simply be too expensive. Thank you though, for watching and for your question!

That's a well thought out kit. I made a day hike hiking kit using a Stanley Adventure stainless pot ( Minus the blue cups ) and a Olicamp stainless steel cup. The Adventure pot sits inside the cup. A Trangia burner and a cross ( X ) stand with a tin foil wind screen stored inside the Pot along with a spoon and some matches. The whole outfit sits in a camouflaged ( Condor ) water bottle holder. The outside pocket of the Condor ( water bottle holder ) has a plastic bottle with 8 oz of alcohol for the alcohol burner and a fero rod. I attached two canteen cup pouches to the sides of the Condor pouch. One has a Nalgene canteen for water and the other has the dehydrated food. I keep it in the vehicle so when I take a walk I have refreshments with me.

Neat thing about these hacks you can apply the ones you want and even do things a little differently if you want and not worry about those you do not. You can still end up with a very inexpensive cook kit based off the Stanly two cup kit and other very inexpensive items that work well. I just did the Stanley two cup kit with the Caribiner lid lift, that nest into the Ozark trail cup and I only use 1 cup stored in the kit and place one of the cheap small pocket rocket copies propane stoves along with matches and a small micro fiber towel for clean up and to keep things from rattling around. I still need to add a removeable bail handle which I am going to use the hose clamp attachment method and a couple of fishing snap swivels and a steel fishing leader for the "handle" which can be easily unsnapped and removed. Again super light and cheap. I am also using a "bottle" bag of the same design as you are using in this video only a different brand and smaller size. The nested cook kit is inserted first and fits great and a screw on butane/propane mix 7.75 oz canister in the is next, on top of this is a small flint/steel Firestarter and a Bic lighter. The outer pouch carries a Sawyer water filter kit so this one bag has cooking and emergency water procurement covered in a compact package. I wanted something small and compact that could also be kept in my vehicle for the just in case scenario and this fits that role perfectly.

Outstanding I found a small military bag just big enough for the cookset, cup, extra lid, spoon and fork, fire kit, bandanna, and a FireAnt stove. I can load the cookset with some food and hot drink mix, and I’m ready to go. I’ve really enjoyed watching your videos on this kit. 👍🏻👍🏻

Very Cool intro... . 💪😍👍💓💗💖 I love this Stanley compacted gear kit !! Most packers don't consider the hi value of Organizational Efficiency in the field , until its too late. . 3:55 ...love those Bottle cases...I settled with the heavier 12" x 5" Maxpedition brand, for its better stitching....My pathfinder bottle holder , started to unravel at the seams after a few canoe trips .
@WayPointSurvival
@WayPointSurvival 3 жыл бұрын
I am a huge Maxpedition fan. They make some of the very best gear out there. Still, the Pathfinder Bottle holder is less expensive and that's what a lot of Stanley Cook Set owners are looking for, so this is one of the reasons I used it. As well as the fact that it fits the entire kit very well. Thanks for watching and for your comments. You're right about organizational efficiency in the field, way underappreciated!

What a fun journey! Seeing everything come to fruition was an awesome experience. I have some of the mods finished, and am working on the others. But this is a project so fine, I'm surprised Stanley isn't offering it as a package deal: it's worth it! Also, I tried looking at the WayPoint Survival page, but it wouldn't load. Thank you very much James! I have some grandchildren that are old enough to appreciate the skills you teach, and I think the Stanley Cook Kit creative uses that are on the KZfaq channels make this almost a “folklore piece of gear”. I’m sure you also know that you could put in (if you wanted to a P 38 can opener), and maybe a a Mini Bic lighter in there (in case you got lazy and didn’t want to use something more befitting a woodsman like yourself’s way of fire starting! I remember watching videos by Steven Harris who had the saying: “Two is one, andone is none”. So I would have in my kit so it windproof matches in a waterproof case or a mini old fashioned lighter in a waterproof case of the Mini Bic seems too big. From what you showed me in this one video it seems like you will still have a lot of room in the backpack itself for some sort of shelter tarp it tent as well as food (obviously dehydrated). You also have a very engaging personality (I’m not blowing smoke up your nose). I think that there are some people that are cut out for making KZfaq videos because the viewers see his as genuine other people who use the platform simply are not. You’re one that has the enthusiasm of a true believer in what you preach, has the skills and therefore has the credibility! Thanks again for this video especially and all the other ones you’ve posted that I’ve had an opportunity to watch so far. Richard Berkshire Country Western Massachusetts

Im new to this channel, you seem to be well informed. Keep up the good work. I noticed something though, that you use the word hack(s) but what your actually doing is adds. Mods obviously short for modification; example: drilling drain holes, cutting notches, etc Hacks are defined as using it in this situation would be using items for other purposes more than intended, as in using the lid as a cutting tool, the handle as a fishing device, etc

Thank you for watching and thank you for the explanation. I would say, however, that the word "hack" has become common vernacular for anything being used in a way other than factory intent including modifications and additions. That was my understanding when I used the word as most people will get the idea and I'm limited in space on the thumbnail and somewhat on the title. Just trying to convey the general thought to the greatest amount of viewers as possible. Thank you again for taking the time to give a more accurate description in the comment section!

@@WayPointSurvival exactly. That's why i was hoping to reach channels early. It seems that term "Hack(s)" has gone by the way of Xerox and Kleenex, so generalized that it means everything. Maybe im just being critical. When I hear hack I hear differently being that I work in the IT and Tech sector. Keep up the good work and stay on that post grind.

I like this hack. There are of course somethings I would not need, like the coffee press ( I have one and don't like it much ) I would want to find other things I could replace with the cup in the stove. How many liters is your back pack, just wondering. There should plenty of room for food, I'm a big believer in haveing food. You never know when you might need it. A broken leg or twisted ankle can slow you down like crazy and it hurt if you have to wait days for aid. I guess that's my big thing.
@WayPointSurvival

Thank you for watching. I'm not sure how many liters the backpack is but it's fairly small, I believe less than 1800 cubic inches.

I had my doubts but you did it. Great job and enjoyed all the ideas. Could you do one more on the very minimum / light weight to carry Stanley cook set? Bare Bones.
@WayPointSurvival

Not sure what you mean. Do you mean overall weight of entire kit? Otherwise, just carry the kit itself with only the hacks that you would need for a given trip.

Yes sir. Like one green cup and alcohol stove ? Lighter? Meal? A one meal trip. I would say "what ever fits inside the Stanley kit." Bare bone kit. Thank you for the fast reply. Looking forward to many more good bushcrafting ideas.💡.
