I don't know why GW still hasn't opted for dropper bottles. Oh wait... They want us to spill our paint, or they want it to dry faster, so we buy more of it, you say? No, that wouldn't happen. Never.

I prefer using washes and contrast out of the pot usually unless I thin them down so I think pots are better for those, but yeah everything else being in dropper bottles would be awesome, ESPECIALLY the air paints

When you're used to a universe where "brushed steel covered in skulls" qualifies as subtle, seeing someone paint a model 15 different shades of greyish brown is kind of a trip.

@@synovialpig9983 my experience is having 15 different shades of khaki/camouflage beige/grey green, and finding that i still don't have the right shade and that references show the actual shade was completely inconsistent in real life anyway

Great video; really made my day seeing this. Also, handy hint for any Early/Mid-War German collectors using Citadel paints; Stormvermin Fur is dead-on PERFECT for German Feldgrau uniforms. If you have one of the spray-cans (which they don't make or sell anymore, sadly) you can have an army half-basecoated in a few blasts, and you can mix-and-match with Athonian Camoshade, Agrax and Nuln Oil to give the uniforms the kind of tonal and material variety they had later on in the war.

Dude I just discovered this. Vallejo field grey is too green for my taste. Stormvermin fur is just right for getting olive grey color, IMHO.

Hero. I'm a bit loathe to go out and buy a bunch of Vallejo paints when I have nearly a full Citadel paintbox, so knowing what to swap in is a godsend :D

Absolutely amazing to see you painting other stuff than GW's products. I really enjoy it. Also ( and for me thats very important ): You got the colour of the breadbag historically 100% accurate! Not sure if anyone else has mentioned it yet, but every soldier was issued with a zeltbahn segment, that individually was used as a poncho, but three segments made a small tent. Keep up the awesome tutorials. I've been painting minis for the last 30 years or so, and I'm still picking up tips from these. You never stop learning! =)

Really enjoying the diversification of your subject matter and paint ranges Duncan. I think most hobbyists out here in the wilds use a hybrid of colours and pigments from various manufacturers and it's refreshing to see your "two thin coats" style tutorials embrace this hobby truth now that you are no longer beholden to the Citadel product line. I LOVE the using a plate to mix your paints on. I have SO many fond memories from my 45+ years of using plates to do this, from my early days using Airfix enamel paints to the wonderful acrylic paints I use today. Unfortunately, using the "best China" from the display cabinet wasn't exactly received with enthusiasm by my mum when I first started, so I soon learned to use the old, chipped, everyday plates instead. Now I us a wet palette as well as plates, depending on what I'm painting. SO good to see you diverge from the usual GW stuff, even though I love those videos too. I haven't seen many of your non-GW videos, so am having some serious fun catching up on them, and learning all the way :-D

Thank you. That was absolutely by far the best tutorial I have seen for late war Germans. Sadly I cant go back and repaint 30 Grenadiers, but I definitely will apply this to the next 30!

Cool, I am painting warlord ww2 U.S. infantry. Interesting to find out that there were two main uniform pant colours brown or green, green being standard issue some time after the war started. Can't believe I am seeing Duncan paint my ww2 minis!

It doesn't take long once you get the hang of it - especially with a batch painting technique. Do 5 guys at a time - paint the field grey on each, then on to the khaki etc. Especially helpful with washes because then you are not literally watching paint dry.

Hello. I'm a first time viewer and a WWII 28mm fan... Both the presentation and technique here are first class. I'd call the result as 'high-quality-tabletop' but very much on the higher end. (Indeed it would take only the smallest detailed effort to 'showcase' this miniature. ) The presentation and illustration of colour choice/technique/method is really well done and in a manner that's friendly and informative. An excellent tutorial in every way. xx SF

yeah same. if he could cover how textures effect bristles, how to properly rinse and clean brushes, proper brushstroke technique.. it would be really helpful for newer painters and is always a nice reminder if you're experienced
