You have an amazing gift. I can't wait to try my hand at this painting. No doubt the challenge for me will be to find the viesion in me to to see the lines and shapes the way I did when I was young and it all came so easily. I am now 66 and not as sharp as I once was. Thank you very much ! It's all improvised and painted intuitively. I only have a vague idea of what the painting should look like. I paint lines and spots with a palette knife or brush. Then I think about where which building could be. Define all the details with targeted brush strokes and set highlights. That's it. Best regards

Love your cityscapes ! I find using the palette knife for delicate work, like figures etc, very difficult. Is it ok to use a fine brush…..or is that cheating ?

Thank you Gerry! It's never cheating. You can use whatever you want to paint. You can paint how you want, what you want, on what you want, with what you want. There are no limits to creativity. You can paint with a brush if you find it easier. You can practice with a painting knife if you enjoy it. You can even paint with your fingers and it's fine.

I'm new to layering the way u do are u letting the paints dry between layering

If it is necessary, then yes, you have to dry between. It depends on what effect you want to create. One possibility is to paint as dry as possible on a dry background with little color - see 4:00 min. Second comfort, transparent color on a colorful background - see 26: 00min. The next option is to set highlights: white color on a dry background and then paint the desired color (light) over it: min. 22:59. Another possibility is partly dry and partly still acrylic paint. The moist color is veneered and the dry is painted over: see 19.18 min. Textures are created by several thick layers of paint that you can scratch into or create a pattern with the painting knife ... There are many options. I hope these help you a little ... Best regards Elsa
