Great tip on spraying the ceiling last with the baseboard. Never would have thought of that myself.

This is exactly how we do it, but with masking and everything else, definitely takes longer then 20 minutes. I’m assuming by 20 minutes in the title you meant just the spray time. Love the videos, and have picked up a lot of little tricks from you guys. 👍🏻

I like the 621 tip for walls and wide open areas. The extension does leave spit marks, but only when triggered on and off. he sprayed pretty much non stop. so that would not be an issue, and of course it is textured. Nice job. Its a lot of fun going full out like that with big tips. PVA sucks up. you use more of it than a more heavily bodied primer. I am surprised that you are going full pressure. Lots of wind, bounce back and tip wear. I wonder if an even bigger tip, may a 27 and 3/4 pressure would have worked to save paint? Looks good. nice tip about the window light and spray direction. never considered that.

Yes, no doubt! I appreciate it 🙏 you are absolutely right, when we are running the extension wands we try to not start and stop and just keep it flowing 👌 nothing worse than a big ole spit on a beautiful wall

Of coarse it can be sprayed in 20 minutes. But prep and unmasking and touchups takes hours. Just rolling and cutting with floor cover would save money, time, and paint.
@PaintBoss
@PaintBoss 3 жыл бұрын
ya, I just meant spraying on this one brother. Problem is, with this texture it drinks the paint so we would have to roll 2 to 3 coats and by that time we could just shoot it and be done. I know the masking seems crazy, but out here it's the only way we can do these kind of projects in under a day. thanks for the comment 💪

Every time I paint using an airless, I always have someone behind me with an 18” roller back rolling. It helps to evenly spread the paint onto the surface.
@PaintBoss
@PaintBoss 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, that is how I was raised as well, we always backrolled everything, out here no one does it, and none of the builders or clients like the stipple it produces! Back rolling definitely helps out on touch ups and evens out walls, but out here it's an extra and it's rare we get asked to do it. thanks for the comment 🙏👍

@PaintBoss
@PaintBoss 3 жыл бұрын
thank you so much, so with this type of texture....2 reasons....1 it soaks in our pva like crazy, and 2 when we spray the wall and go into the 90 degree angle, if our corner is already wet, when we go to the corner and start on the other wall our ovwrspray melts into the already wet corner and we are left with nice and smooth walls and smooth corners👊🙏

@@PaintBoss How do you handle having to explain to your customers the extra paint cost vs rolling? I'm sure it must come up for you some times, even on nicer houses. What % of the time do they talk you back down into rolling to save on paint (though it saves on labor), even if it's only five or ten clients out of a hundred..? There are those older customers who've been around and are used to rolling calculations, and younger ones trying to save on initial capital outlays, and others who might be overly environmentally conscious... Do you always win the discussion when you want to spray? or do you sometimes give in...

@@immeohmyoh I used to build high-end custom homes. Many of total construction budgets were in excess of $8,000,000. I’ve never had any client critique the process. They’re only concerned with the total cost and the final product outcome. The clients you want to work for aren’t the ones that are going to tell professionals how it should be done. You should always aim to put out the best product you can, raise your prices, and definitely avoid clients that are going to even think they know how it should be done.

Hello there, yes I agree. Here we call it sun valley or hand texture. It can go on at the request of the clients, being a garage, this was what is known as a "heavy" sun Valley to cover any imperfections on the walls. My favorite is a light sun valley, very clean. You are right though, it is a regional thing, making its way through the pacific northwest and moving east now. Thanks for the comment.

@PaintBoss

Hello there, well it would depend on how many times you would use the 695. if it is more than a one time use, then for sure get the bigger pump. However, if it is for a job or 2 you definitely could use the 595, you would just need to spray a tiny bit slower, but it could handle it for sure! let me know if you have any questions

I would say very close to that number especially for 1200-2000 Sqft. depending on location but a solid days pay (gross profit) if it takes under 10-12 total man hours for completion with 1-2 craftspeople and maybe an apprentice and this is only if client is purchasing the paint, 23 gallons and labor can eat up profits fast. Cheers, Derek

Great videos, thanks for the effort. You really should get your guys true respirators. I see most of your videos guys wearing N95 face masks, that's not really sufficient when your locked in a room with that much overspray. They should be wearing a real respirator with appropriate filters for type of paint you're spraying. If you're a true baller you would look into a 3M TR-800-PSK Versaflo PAPR for Painters, if you have a guy that all he does is spray.

@PaintBoss 3 жыл бұрын
No doubt, she is going to drink it up. if it is a 2 story, and you are shooting it I would probably start with 15 maybe 18 gallons. If you spray your going to have some waste, but if you are just rolling it you could probably get away with a little less, but start there around 15 to 18 and that should get u started. If the stucco is heavy it will take more paint as well. good luck and let me know if you have any other questions 😊
