Great work. I've been following your vids as I prepare to make my first attempt at airbrushing my son's goalie mask. The list of materials in the video is much appreciated as it's been difficult trying to understand what all is being used by most artists in the vids. just finished watching. this is probably thee best helmet job i have ever seen. you are a master with the airbrush and more importantly, the brush work. i was blown away. 1 negative however - the red, green and yellow round the base did not do it for me. maybe some of the same colours on the top etc. would of helped bring it all together but i guess the customer wanted it that way. cheers Gordon from Ireland

thanks man, yeah he is from Ghana and wanted that just in there subtly even tho it's not normally on the BP helmet. yeah and the music was an unfortunate thing. the original music I tried to use got a copyriht strike, so I quickly had to pull the vid and put new music to it, but in my haste didn't check the levels good enough, and now it is how it is haha. anyway I appreciate the kind words! thanks yo!

Personally I used PPG, but I'm sure one is as good as the next if you are using professional automotive base / clear. I never used a brush - always just airbrush. You get some wicked sharp lines with that fine brush though. Really makes things pop! Key point you touch on briefly: "why we charge what we charge". Not only does this type of detailed work take hours, but customers are also paying for your knowledge & experience on how to do it. That's not to even mention the fact that 95% of the population could watch 1000 how to videos and not have the ability to come close to this quality of artwork. Fantastic job! Inspires me to pull out my old Paasche and give the new goalie bucket I got for Christmas a little scratch 'n' squirt!

haha 'scratch n squirt' !! I like that! You should do it man! Yeah there's so much work and time and just a background of different things that have had to be learned and figured out to get to the point of being able to do a paint job to this level. I'm using Custom Paints inc. now for my paint and I'm really liking it! I've used PPG before as well and had no issues with it, basically any urethane based paints are great in my opinion. I def went tru a loooong stage where I would only use an airbrush and kinda refused to use anything else, but then at one point I decided what ever could get me the results I wanted was best. The customer doesn't care about your process but just the end result, I am more interested in using more techniques and mediums these days if it'll get me better results. It's all cool and it's all about growing and learning more so I dig it all! Peace brother!

Nice work! Helpful tutorial! Any tips for beginners for getting nice fine lines with the airbrush? I'd also like to see the prep work that you did before the paint process began.

Thanks so much!! Well for fine lines I think the biggest thing is how well reduced your paint is. When I do small detail I reduce a lot more and work really close. As for prep work I'm actually going to film the prep process on this next mask I'm doing for a vid. So stay tuned!!

Thanks a lot!! I's all that same paint, ProSpray, use it for basing, airbrushing and brushing. It can be a bit tricky to brush with solvents cause the thinners can eat into the paint below, but it still works if you don't 'sketch' the paint to much and do just nice even pulls of the brush.

MrFlacko! ART so I think one thing I do that helps, is when I’m done airbrushing a section I always hit it with clear basecoat, like just the binder from the basecoat with no pigment in it. (I talk about this in other videos) I do it just to protect it from masking and cleaning after, but I think it also helps for brushing over it, cause it adds a little protective layer before you burn into other colors.
