How to paint a Sunset over the ocean for beginners and intermediate painters.
In this acrylic painting tutorial ocean sunset video. I will teach you how to paint a sunset with acrylics step by step.
The scene for the ocean sunset painting could be a view from a beautiful sunset beach. It makes a lovely scene and an easy acrylic painting tutorial sunset beach video that is easy to teach and hopefully easy to recreate your own ocean sunset painting at home.
Hopefully the video will cover how to paint sunset clouds, how to paint ocean waves with acrylic paint in a super easy way using a flat headed brush. How to paint a sunset beach or how to paint a beach sunset.
You can use canvas or paper for the acrylic painting tutorial sunset ocean but please have a hairdryer handy to dry your work in places. Acrylics dry very fast, but the hairdryer allows you to quickly dry your work in order to not make a mistake.
By taking your time with each stage you will learn how to improve your realism but also how to paint a sunset acrylic painting.

I love so many things about this painting. Starting with the Prussian blue, which is very striking when you first look at the painting. But watching the full tutorial, I fell in love with many other aspects of the painting…all the effects of the sun on the water and especially the glow in the water on the sand. Prettiest painting I’ve seen in so long! …Oh, & I loved hearing your excitement when you seen it coming together. 😊

Brilliant work, love this.. tried one of your so called easier ones and it wasn't easy lol but I loved trying it.. my paints seem to dry way to fast

Thank you. I know, I deliberately make them challenging. As if you don’t strive to be better it won’t give you much achievement. So hopefully by being a little difficult. You can follow along and push yourself. You can use a mist spray bottle for plants for your palette 🎨. That’s a good little cheap trick to stop them drying quick.

I live in London so it’s always damp ☔️ and cold 🥶 lol 😂. But a way to keep your paint 🎨 dry is to use a mister spray. Like you would use for plants 🪴. Hope that helps 👍

Why do artist paint their canvas, with usually an orange or yellow color, even if they are painting a mostly blue and green landscape? I am not trained...but love to paint...so just curious.

Ha ha ha It shows you must have fast forward the part that I explained in the video lol. It's to see where I have missed parts of the painting and where I need to add more paint. As a dark colour will shine through. So an artist can see areas they need to rework. Hope that helps.

I used to paint when I was young. Then gave up for 20 plus years. Only came back to it about 5-6 years ago. Just retaught myself through Bob Ross and great artists here on KZfaq 👍

hi may i ask do you have a tutorial on how to paint the very beginning basic sunset when it’s only in orange colour? I saw that you started off with the painted orange canvas and slowly adding paints on it aferwards but i also want to know what colours you paint as the most basic sunset at the very beginning. Thanks a lot!

It’s a colour called raw sienna. It’s a dark colour so I can see where I need to thicken up the lighter colours underneath.

What brand of paint did you use please? I can’t find these colours in your Amazon shop

I use a brand called pebeo. The normal ones for this painting. Not the decocremes brand. For some reason the decocreme brand by pebeo is ridiculously expensive in the USA compared to the UK. They are around $8 in the UK and $25 in the USA on Amazon . But if you just goggle Pebeo. But don’t worry to much about the brand. What you want is acrylics that are quite thick in texture. Not thin and watery. As then it’s easier to apply. So just try a few and see what your comfortable with.

A company called pebeo, they have premixed colours called decocreme. There are links in the description box but google them as you might be able to get them where you live 👍
