This video is about how I interpret a landscape photo that I took including how I decide what goes into the painting and what dosen't. The whole process of creating a painting on paper from start to finish with commentary and all my thoughts, ideas and decisions along the way. Part 1 of a two-part series - acrylic landscape painting tutorial for beginners.
Acrylic colors used in the demonstration:
Ultramarine Blue, Cobalt Blue, Yellow Ochre, Cadmium Medium Yellow, Mars Black, Titanium White.
I invest a lot of time and love in filming and editing the videos so I'm very happy for your support.

When I go to a music concert, I attentively watch the musicians playing, but when I get home I cannot play the violin. Similarly, I watch and listen to your demonstrations with great interest, but I cannot (yet) do what you do. This does not undervalue your excellent performance, it is the realisation that I need to practice much more than I do, in order to gain your level of skill. Another entertaining an informative video. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

I wondered if it was possible to do enormous wall sized paintings in small blocks . A tall order I think. Thank you for your tuition. I always enjoy it.

Indulge me suggesting that you do more of these how-to use and paint from inspirational photos... and then do a series of demos on scaling up to larger works and the challenges painting bigger (like the piece behind you on the wall). ML, please know we interested artists are not put off by 20-30 minute vlogs but breaking them up into "parts" is OK, too. Cheers to you there from me here in Virginia, USA!

Another mesmerising video. Thank you. You mention the.paper is Daler. Watercolour paper or acrylic? The paper looks quite thin. Do you ever paint on canvas or panels?
@TheDanishPainter
@TheDanishPainter 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Sarah, yes it's Daler Rowney Ebony Artists Sketchbook 160/110lb. I also sometimes use watercolor paper like Strathmore or Arches. Sometimes I use whatever I have on hand and make experiments. If your paper weight is thin you could gesso the paper first as it will take more of a beating and be less prone to buckle. I do also paint on canvas and have painted on panels in the past.

I love your videos and find them so helpful and inspiring. Thank you. I have a question. What paper do you use? I use thick paper (300 gsm) and use masking tape as you do. But I find when I pull the tape away it picks up chunks of the paper, spoiling the effect. Is there a way round this?
@TheDanishPainter
@TheDanishPainter 3 жыл бұрын
Your paper sounds perfect. I think you need to prime your paper with a couple of coats of gesso first and that will probably solve your problem. Alternatively use a different type of masking tape. As you can probably tell I reuse my painting tape many times and as it gets worn, less sticky and won't rip the paper. Thanks for watching Alan!:)

Hej Marie Louse. Jeg set nogle af dine videos, og vil rigtig gerne i den retning med mit maleri. Jeg har et spørgsmål. Har du et maleri på canvas hvor jeg kan se din fremgangsmåde hvor der ikke bruges så meget vand ?
