Although short in stature, the chunky and characterful Leagues of Votann Hearthkyn Warriors are some of our favourite new Warhammer 40k kits in a long time, so we're giving this one the fancy treatment!

the rust on the recesses on the chest armour look weird, because rust wouldnt form as easily where the armour was rubbing together

Great decision! I’ve got the Series S and D brush sets and I love them! If you decide to get one of the textured palettes, get two, one to use and one for wall decor!

Love the Colour Scheme you got going on here! Any chance we could get a tutorial on drybrushing black vehicles? Preferably in neutral grays. WOuld love to see your take on how to deal with large flat panels of black to look good.

I'm also loving messing around with this kit. Really enjoy all the pose variety and the awesome special weapons. Lots of customisation seems to be a theme across most of their infantry. I do have about 3000 points of the little buggers to get through though so I should really get a wiggle on...

It might be a bit niche, but I'm a bit stuck on how to approach the dagger type blades on the Votann guys... Especially on a Trans Hyperion Alliance scheme, is it too much orange vibes to give them a molten blade too?

I know this is a pretty old video but do you varnish your miniatures at all? I'd be interested in doing this and playing with that army but would be worried about damaging the paint job

I love wrinkly prime ... gives (often) a great surface texture, as long as we are not looking for the polished, pristine surface look.

Q : do you "prime coat" your texture palette before projects like this?

I prime it before most new projects, I like the fresh start, testing my paints over black (like my mini), and also ensuring no dust :). If I don't prime I just give it a quick wipe :)

Awesome vid ! How are these series D brushes you consistently use comparing against same shapes simple cheap make-up brushes ? or even the army painters set of the same type ?

Thanks man! With the caveat that we designed them, and are slightly biased :D Makeup brushes - if you wanted makeup brushes of comparable quality (hair quality, build, handmade) you'd pay 2x-5x, a cheap makeup brush is just that, it'll die quickly, it has a low quantity of low quality hairs, rather than a high-quality of high-quality hairs. Our brushes break in, they don't break :). Regarding the copies out there, we're the originators, we understand the technique, and everything about our brushes was perfected over the 5 years of design and R&D we went through. I like to think the understanding and quality shows in the content we produce, these aren't products we've adopted for convenience, we brought them into existence. The components and quality is the highest in the industry, we went out there to make the best, and are proud of the result, it's how we approach all of our products. Hope that comes across OK, I tried other brushes for a decade before designing Series D, and then spent half that time again perfecting them, it's why they're the best :)
