That dash is a work of art, thanks for sharing your process. So did all the 70s Charger stock cars have wooden dash inserts?
@ClayKemp

I've seen partial ones like this, full wood grain across the whole dash face, and some are just all flat black. It really was up to who was building the car back then.

Is this method of doing grain better or using newton oil paint better?
@ClayKemp
@ClayKemp 2 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say it is any better. Probably a lot quicker than working with oils since they take so long to dry. But for a quick effect it's pretty handy.

Where did you get those gauge decals at? I'm trying to find an assortment of generic decals to use on my various models.

I believe those either came from a Salvino kit sheet, or from Slixx. Powerslide makes a full gauge sheet for different eras as well.

Did you modify the brush you used to add the woodgrain?
@ClayKemp
@ClayKemp 7 ай бұрын
Actually, the brush was awful. It was super stiff because I hadn't cleaned it very well from the last time I used it. So that may have actually helped make the pattern.

What year is this car because I think around the gauges it should be wood too
@ClayKemp
@ClayKemp 2 жыл бұрын
Early 70's....It is more of a general representation of the era. I've seen all sorts of different versions. The Museum car didn't have wood at all. Some have full wood faces. And others were like this.
