@@gagnonstudio glad to see your posting more videos, I remember when you first started, you were the biggest KZfaqr for painting lessons at the time- guess because you became busy real fast at that time you didn't post as much...happy to see your back, best wishes to you. Thanks for the full tutorials as well posting on your channel- especially now that your posting videos using oils....greatly appreciated. I remember the tree videos- so many people painted those tree lessons....it was so popular so fast back then..... Can't believe it's been over 13 yrs!!! Seems like yesterday....

Thank you for this Tim ✨👏. I currently paint with acrylics, but am going to try oils some time in the future. Clouds are one of my favourite things to paint as they are so free 😍.. I may have a thing for the sky all together, my father was a meteorologist, so looking up to the sky was something that happened a lot 😊.

Oh boy...I finally get it!! Thank you for giving proper, crystal clear instructions. Appreciate how you are set up and a good camera angle. Gets frustrating when you're staring at someone's back...Some online paint nite instructors do just that. It's anyone's guess why our colors vary so much from instructors. Many don't explain the process, mixing or placement of subjects or objects 🤔 🙄 THANKS AGAIN!! I'm watching this on my phone without a problem or resolution issues. 😁👋😍

Another good one Tim. You make it look easy. I guess the same principles would apply to acrylics ?. Very helpful, Thanks again. Dave M.😎🇦🇺🦘.
@gagnonstudio3 жыл бұрын
You could take a similar approach with acrylics. The edges might be a little bit harder to pull off because the paint dries so quickly. The difference there is you'll be using light pressure to bring the cloud out into the sky rather than blending. Lighter pressure will make the edges softer when you use less paint around the edges because it will allow the blue sky to show through a little bit making it appear soft and hazy.
@kitsuiam8523 жыл бұрын
Could we do more contour of the clouds to create more depths with similar approach....or would have to wait for the oil paint to dry..very helpful techniques....thanks again for the lesson😃😀👍🏻👍🏻

@@gagnonstudio Thanks for that Tim. Yea, acrylics can be a bit frustrating with fast drying. Great advice though, much appreciated. Dave M 😎🇦🇺🦘

An art teacher recommended using white gesso instead of titanium white, for acrylic paintings, which I’ve been doing for many years. What do you think of this idea, Tim? Thank you for your wonderful videos. Love them!
@gagnonstudio3 жыл бұрын
I think that can work. The only problem with gesso is that it dries super super fast and doesn't have the same sheen when it dries, so it can look a little chalky and flat. If you are using it mixed with other colors you won't notice that as much though, so I think it can work well there. I probably wouldn't use it as a highlight color personally but I don't believe in restricting any artist with arbitrary rules. Part of art is using tools and paint in unique ways to create your own style, so if you like using gesso as a mixing tool or as a highlight color you should continue if it works for you.

Tim - what kind of easel is that (at the beginning)? Or what easel would you recommend? 🤠
@gagnonstudio2 жыл бұрын
I've always used H frame easels. I find they are the most stable and allow for bigger canvases. Brand wise, I use Richeson.
