Awhile back I also painted a wave using only short quick lines and dots. My reference picture had a sunset coming over the horizon so the water had all types of colors, oranges, pinks, yellows, and blues. It turned out beautiful!

Melanie! You make this look so easy! Lol It's a credit to your straightforward teaching skills and step-by-step simplicity that I think I could actually do this water landscape with a crashing/cresting wave! *Great job* ! It's beautiful! (I'm also glad you did this with the Himi gouache, showing that price doesn't always matter.)

Hi! Just an fyi- Melanie uses they/them pronouns! Also, I agree! I am always too intimidated to make art in general but they make it seem attainable for me!

Thank you for the kind words! 🥰 And yes, my pronouns are they/them and I don't identify as a girl :)

@@VisualMind Oh, goodness! I wasn't even thinking and meant no disrespect. Thank you for remediating my error. I'm really interested in gaining more understanding of the use of pronouns. I often get confused on which one to use and I would hate to hurt or offend anyone. Again, thank you and I do appreciate the kindness toward my ignorance. 🥰 And, you really are an ah-mazing artist!

@@mia_marie01 Thank you! 🥰 I appreciate your kindness in correcting me, as well. So many people would have taken this as an opportunity to lambaste me for my lack of awareness. As someone who believes in using platforms to *encourage* and be a blessing to others, it's so nice to find a kindred spirit in that endeavor. 😊

I have seen Himi used by several youtubers and i wonder 2 things: 1 don't they dry up if left uncovered 2 don't they make a mess if the set is not properly placed? ( Let's say i want to take them to paint in the park.)

I've had my set for a few years. So, to answer your questions: 1. Yes, they do dry out if you leave them uncovered. Even if you keep the case closed, they'll still dry out as its not air-tight. However, because it is water-based, they're pretty easy to reactivate with water. There are a few videos on different strategies for reactivating them. 2. They're pretty gooey in consistency. They don't slosh around or spill if you handle the cups roughly. I wouldn't worry about them making a mess during regular urban painting or travel. They're a decent set and can be good quality for the price based on where you live. Hope I helped!
