Very interesting and a superbly painted model. When I left school, before starting my apprenticeship, I had a summer job driving a bulldozer towing a large roller to compact hardcore into a road bed on some soft ground. The tracks of the bulldozer were actually quite shiny, being polished by the dirt. If I went through wet mud it would stick to the tracks but quickly fall off when I went back on dry ground No part of the tracks were rusty. I think we make tracks on out models a bit rusty because we are used to seeing tanks in museums that either don't move or move very rarely. I think a tank in wartime that moves a lot will have fairly bright metal tracks or mud covered if it is traversing wet muddy ground.

Yep, I know what you wrote here. And dont like rust on tracks becasue it is unreal especially when we build operational tanks. The only place for rust is damaged or abandoned tank. Our models are exaggerated with some effects but also we skip some e.g. bare metal polished tracks. I saw the same on tanks operated on some show - their tracks were shiny in 90%. But try to make something like that on your model! All viewers will say you are wrong! :):):)

@@coldemonspl I understand what you say about how we paint our models and the scale effects. If we could enlarge our models to full size I am sure they would look very odd with the paint effects. When I painted my car I was very careful to get a really even colour on all the panels. The first thing I do on models is try and get some colour modulation.

Where can i buy the best qaulity metal tracks for reasonable price ?
@coldemonspl
@coldemonspl Ай бұрын
The question is what is reasonable price. You can check Friul model, Masterclub (hard to find nowadays) or some Chinese companies on Ebay. But you can also find good or even better quality 3d printed. All depends on your needs and expectations! :)

The tracks dont look wet,they are too black and the inside of the tracks where the sprockets and wheels on all tracked vehicles become highly polished steel,in reality on a route march,they hiss with the water on them becoming steam and become dry in a matter of minutes,if its muddy,the mud becomes baked on. Overdone as always with you,but each to their own i guess. Fantastic modelling tutorials and thank you
