When you turn in your old phone and get a new iPhone they should ask you if you have a watch and ask if you need help getting it paired with new phone.

How do you make a backup? You didn’t cover that part which I think is pretty important. Update 03/21/2024: take caution when doing your backup and do not follow what I did. I had a very old series 3 watch and I believe the watchOS may not have been up to date when doing the steps below which may explain the unusual behavior. I would say only do it if you have no other choice or are ok with possibly losing your backup and having to setup your watch from scratch manually. The procedure below worked for me but it may not work for you so do it at your own risk. Thank you. Update: since this video doesn’t tell you how the backup works, I’ll post what I found out. Keep in mind I have an Apple Watch 3 in case that makes a difference. When you reset your watch, it will automatically make a backup so that when you re-pair it to your new phone, it will let you pick which backup you want to use to setup your watch. That I think should be explained because it’s annoying to have to redo all the settings and installing of apps on the watch all over again so I wasted quite a bit of time trying to prevent this from happening when all along, all I had to do was go through with the reset of the watch and the backup would have automatically been take care of. This would have saved a lot of time, had it been included in this video.

Yeah your advice sounds like it won't work. It already screwed over the Smashthestatex guy below. Don't follow someone that tells you to reset your data then pray that it asks you to restore it. Makes no sense.

@@KeitaroTime I totally agree. In normal circumstances you are absolutely correct. I have a very old Series 3 Apple Watch which may not be updating correctly. Recently, shortly after my advice post (maybe a month later), I noticed that my watch couldn’t even update to Apple’s current watchOS. No longer supported. With that being said, at the time of my advice post, I’m wondering now, if my watch was even up to date while doing this procedure. If it wasn’t, that could explain the unusual behavior that I experienced. I’m glad I mentioned in the beginning of my advice post that this is just what I found out myself and also mentioned my old model series 3 watch I was using to prevent any foul ups but perhaps now I should mention that, that detail is even more important now since we have evidence that it didn’t work for at least one person. My apologies for the mishap and again, you are absolutely correct when it comes to procedures for backing up your device. Always do the backup first and then do your restore or what have you. Don’t depend on it asking after the fact. Very dangerous for losing data. However, I assure you, this is just what happened to me in my experience and that is why I shared it. I’m no expert but I do have a general idea of how things should work and this was not normal which is why I spent waaaaay more time than I should have, trying to figure this out when it should have been something so simple.

I fixed my i phone and. When i have it back the watch is still on my I phone but all the fitness data erased although i did the back up on my iPhone also the watch signed out from my apple account and when i log in they said info wrong what to do☹️

Honestly what you are saying is so confusing I have no clue what Im suppose to do. I just want to sync my apple watch to my NEW phone without losing my health data. The part at 00:22 is where Im immediately confused and cant make out what you are actually saying.
