Tracer ya some of the BMW's have electrical issues somehow with the blinkers... so it could be a good excuse even if the blinkers do work! :)

Summed up: -line up rear tyres with bumper, crank wheel fully to the right and reverse -line up centre of car with back bumper, straighten wheel and reverse -line up side mirror with bumper, crank wheel fully to the left and reverse -pull forward to be parallel with the curb, adjusting as needed

Easier way: Line your cars side mirror to the car next to yours side view mirror Turn the wheel and move back into the parking spot. Ram the fuck outta the car behind you till its far back enough for you to fit Do the same for the car infront Then your good

SlackersIndustry that was a perfect reality, can't stop laughing. Happened to me 3 times before I realized that I was just concentrating too damn hard. Now I can measure the space at first glance and just back that ass up into the spot with no problem. Confidence is definitely key to it all.

You make it way to complicated. The simple way is to: stop just next to the car in front of the spot. back up till your front side window are next to his rear side windows. then turn your steering wheel 360 degrees, back up till your back fender (from the mirror's view) reaches the edge of the kerb, then turn your steering wheel all the way to the other direction, back up, you're done. :)

I had to do my parking, single lane 3 point turn test in a 86' Chrysler 5th Avenue thanks to the Honda throwing it's transmission gears away. That is a great index of ability to park, and the look on the tester's face, followed by are you sure, when you show what's being used for the testing is priceless. The parallel part was alot like the golf cart in Austin Powers.

You had a really complicated way of explaining. There's a much easier way. When you're ready to start reversing turn your steering wheel all the way to the right and back up until you see the whole front of the car that's behind you from your left mirror. Then straighten the wheel and back up straight until your rear tire is close to the curb (about 20cm or so) and then turn your steering wheel all the way to the left and finish the parking :)

What if there isn't a vehicle behind you? Many road test centres don't make students park between two vehicles - they only make them parallel park behind a single vehicle. And how does the driver know whether he or she is 20 cm or 12 inches from the curb - what marker should they use? Thanks Cheers Rick

When there isn't a car behind you it doesn't matter as much how much you turn the car because you have a lot more room to work with. And for how to know when you're 20cm (or 12 inches) away from the curb, I like to watch my right rear tire from my right mirror and I just judge the distance, that's how I was told to do it and I've never had problems with it. He made this way more difficult than it needs to be. Pull up until the front your car lines with the middle of theirs . Cut the wheel fully to the direction of the curb and back up until your back tire slightly kisses the curb. You should be at about 1 o’clock. Cut the wheel fully the other way and slowly back in until straight. Boom. Works perfectly every time.

You take a lot of space lining your car like that because when you reverse you will end up far behind the front car and probably hit the car behind you. I would always turn the steering wheel all the way to the curb when I see their tail light on my back passenger door. Then back up until 45 degree angle (10 o clock or 2 o clock) then straightened the wheel and with my mirror lowered just watch the back wheel get very close to the curb and then turn the steering wheel all the way to the opposite to straighten the car.

Here's an easier way, line your cars side view mirror right next to the car your parallel parking behind, once you line it up, turn the wheel all the way to the right, then once your bumper is past the vehicles bumper turn the wheel all the way to the left until straight and there you have it.

After you've been driving for a good amount of time, parallel parking is almost second nature. Practice makes perfect. I used to have a difficult time when I first started driving but now it's a lot easier.

The more weird fix points you need to guide you into a parallel parking space the more your technique becomes unique to a single car. A good rule of thumb is to use the c pillar, which is usually close to the center of the rear wheel and then turn in fully once that is passing the car parked in front of your desired space. Next look left over your shoulder (right for UK and other odd countries) and once your outside rear tire is about to pass the outside line of the car behind you, turn fully the other way. Now look forward to check that you don't graze your front against the rear of the car in front. That should do it.

The trick is to do it slow, and when cranking the wheel all the way, stay STOPPED. Don't drive and crank at the same time. STOP, CRANK (while stopped) and then reverse.

It's an easy way to do it, but you need to keep in mind dry-turning the wheels is also pretty bad for them, depending on road surface, causes wear-and-tear and possibly even wheel alignment issues on some roads (especially uneven bluestone gutters in some countries). Crank while moving super slowly is alright, but in the end it's just a feeling thing, when and how fast to turn. Practice makes perfect.

If anyone watches this for road test Michigan you can't pull forward and re adjust or its a point of they don't care if it's crooked you have to be in these small dashes trust me it's easy

It's the same for me here in Washington. Unfortunately I think this is quite BS, they expect you to be perfect first time when adjustments should be ENCOURAGED. As long as you aren't holding up a city block or hitting the cars in front of you during this maneuver everything should be fine. Thankfully you can screw up the parallel parking test and still be able to get your license provided you do good on the rest of the road test! :)

Some vehicles have differing lengths from the vehicle's center point of reference. Using other reference indicators such as "Triangle window", "Passenger side Mirror" are often used as well. Just finding what best for your vehicle.

Cause most of us are never in a situation where we ever have to.. but our driving tests test for it anyways. It's basically irrelevant in most of the country. Sorry that your tiny backwater doesn't have enough room for more proper parking lots.

Rachel Adria In Australia we have a combination of pretty much everything. Roundabouts and intersections(both give way and traffic light) are used in equal measure, and parallel and parking bays, unmarked and marked, we got them all. There's a time and a place for both types of parking, in the middle of the city if you didn't park parallel, good luck merging into the constant stream of traffic, you'll never find a room to reverse out of a parking bay. Whereas parallel you can just pull out, spurt of acceleration and you're golden. What i find funny is that most americans think that manual transmissions don't exist in modern cars anymore, very funny xD

lol terrible explanation.. 1. If the car you're next trying to park behind is a Smart Fortwo you still align your seat with its? 2. Rolling the window down and adjusting the side mirror cannot be done electrically in many cars. 3. You complicated the fuck out of it..

I'm teaching myself (reteaching, the way I was taught in drivers ed was the way to pass the test, not the actual method to parallel parking) how to parallel park tomorrow, in my manual car... hope this helps!

I have never even thought of this i just do it! Even when i got my license 23 years ago i never thought about it passed my drivers test first shot,besides on your test they give you a big enough spot for a tractor trailer.

Can you please do a how to parallel park in tight spaces ? Please I still can’t do it and it’s so frustrating I never know when to straighten out I never know if I should turn all the way or one full turn because I live in the uk there are so many right roads and parking spots please send help

i was looking for a video to show my daughter, who is moving to boston, how to parallel park. its a cute video, but couldnt you have found a spare car to park behind?! it was a little hard trying to imagine where to line the car up with the other one, when the point of reference was a golf bag. lol

this and manual Shiftbox were my pain! first time i tried to parallel park i hit the other car with my wheels as i was getting in position now i do it like a pro.i have to say that you earned this new subscriber. Sidenote: you could do a video talking about the SUV. i know its not that different from a Car but well in my case i drive a Honda CRV.

I've been driving a few years now and I could put my e30 in the most smallest spaces which was handy as the people on my street wouldn't attempt to fit in it so I'll always have a space when I get back. But I've picked up a brand new mx5 and I can't park... At all I will struggle to get into a gap that could fit two cars

Can you adjust your mirrors while you're parallel parking and then adjust them again when you leave the spot?? For the exam I mean, I'm really curious
