Bark spuds are tools that allow us to remove the bark off of trees or felled logs, without harming the wood structure, or the bark. In this video, Caleb demonstrates how to make one, with three of the most important tools in Bushcraft; the axe, the belt knife, and the mocotaugen.

Great video, I'm really glad to see a Mocotaugan in use. I would really like to see a video dedicated to its techniques and abilities if you find some time.

It would have been nice if the camera was a little closer so i could better see your techniques. Im trying to learn new things instead of retiring around the house.

First,Thank you for taking the time to answer me.Second I understand priorities, you have to do what you have to do.I greatly enjoy your channel and would venture to guess you would make a fine teacher. I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and hope to see more of your video's in the future.

You have no idea. Whole kitchen? Spatulas. Storage bins in the basement? Spatulas. His back pocket? At least three spatulas at any given time. It's sort of terrifying.

1st rule of knife club: Never cut towards your body. 2nd rule of knife club : NEVER cut towards your body.
@CanadianBushcraftChannel
@CanadianBushcraftChannel 2 жыл бұрын
That's an oversimplified and outdated proverb. Cutting towards the body is fine when using the right techniques and such. Drawknives cut towards the body. Crooked Knives cut towards the body. Many tools cut towards the body. Read Mors Kochanski's Knifecraft chapter in the book "Bushcraft" and study his knife techniques, specifically cutting towards the body. If you aren't a big reader, you can find plenty of his knife skills over on the Karamat Wilderness Ways KZfaq Channel.

Pulling that long curved blade downward and really close to your crotch is begging for another circumcision, at the least. Not safe. Generally I like these kinds of outdoors living videos. They are fun and usually informative in some unusual way. But then you get moments like this. I'd request an edit here, just so someone who is not as experienced as you does not follow your guidance and end up with a long blade stuck in their femoral artery way the hell out in the woods.
