If I turn off my canister filter, does it mean that when I turn it back on after treatment, I'll reintroduce gill flukes to the fish tank?
@high_fructose_corn_syrup Жыл бұрын
Is this a 1x treatment? Or does it have to be done again? If it has to be done more than once, what is that schedule?

Is it okay if I take the fish out and put it inside a pail to do this treatment with air pump running and once the pp has oxidise I put the fish back into the main tank. I’m running a sump tank so wondering if this method works ?
@gregnarker18452 жыл бұрын
Hi Vincent, would you recommend taking out your marine block and spongefilter when you carry out this treatment?
@OZDiscus2 жыл бұрын
Yes. It is recommended to remove marine pure block and sponge filter. We didnt do so during demonstration but excellent observation. It will impact beneficial bacteria.

need help i have 2 adult discus that eat well but i realise they are getting thinner day by day. I check thier poop and they are pure black not white. Does this pp bath might help? i have an aquarium full of plant and some snails will this pp good for my tank? or should i do pp bath in quarantine tank?
@OZDiscus9 ай бұрын
Best to do this in a QT. PP oxidises and can cause staining on your plants. Snails will not tolerate this well.

How often do you have to do this procedure?
@OZDiscus Жыл бұрын
There isnt a regular procedure. You can do this when you see issues with Fluke or External related parasite. If you do too often, fish will become immune also. Hence, I would limit this to when you see signs of fluke, scratching or when introducing new fish to the tank.

How often do you do this treatment?
@OZDiscus2 жыл бұрын
It is appropriate to treat this every 4 weeks if you are introducing new plants or fish. However, its best not too regular as fish and fluke can become immune if too often. Try to space it out or as issues arise from Gill flukes etc

Sir ,we directly mix potassium permanganate in fish tank?
@kelvinchang76555 ай бұрын
no you add the PP to a bottle then you slowly add the PP to the tank until you achieve the desired colour. Then leave it until the tank turns brown. Once it turns brown, the PP is no longer active and you can use H2O2 or change substantial amount of water.

Is it too dangerous to use if there are tetras in the same tank?
@OZDiscus2 жыл бұрын
Depends on the types of tetras. Larger tetras like Congo tetras have better tolerance compared to neon tetras. Key is oxygenating the tank. We recommend to do a test with some tetras in a bucket. If problem, can use Seachem prime or hydrogen peroxide to neutralise it quickly.

@kelvinchang76555 ай бұрын
You mean it burnt your fish fins? Then you have put too strong or too much PP to the tank. Also you need to keep the tank aerated.

After pp treatment discus or any fish for that matter leaves slimes,how to de stress them and get them a healthy slime coating?
@OZDiscus Жыл бұрын
Just a nice big water change or simply add some salt and/or melafix will help to rejuvenate their slime coats.

Everyone who does this procedure should know the risks associated and should have hydrogen peroxide on hand to immediately neutralize.
@Hyper_cap Жыл бұрын
I dont know dude, you don't even use a specific dosis like you should..

You think a 200 gallon tank with four Discus should be dosed the same as a 200 gallon tank with forty?
@RandB_Aquatics Жыл бұрын
@@kernalbert4939 I believe so because the treatment is a floating one so same dosage works on 40 as it depends on them swiming through the solution.Its different from something they have to ingest.
@kernalbert4939 Жыл бұрын
@@RandB_Aquatics It depends on the amount of "crud" in the water. More fish, more crud. Less volume, more concentrated the crud. That's why there isn't a specific dosage. Y You don't have to guess about stuff that's already established...
