I really enjoyed your presentation style and your content was excellent. Great images and helpful tips - very worthwhile and I’ll be looking for any other videos you upload. It was also nice for me to watch a video where the equipment being used was similar to what I own. Thank you both for your time and effort!

The American Kestrel nest on my little plot of land. One day I stepped outside and I heard something tumble through the tree branches beside me. It was a Kestrel. I got my gloves on and checked to see if it was ok, still stunned enough that I was able to recover him from the ground and move him to a safer location. While he was there, I rushed to get some shots of this beautiful falcon. I'm glad that they like my property for raising their young. Two years ago I go some shots of them but this past year the fledglings were more skittish. The first day of this year, I got a shot of a Bald Eagle on my property. Hopefully this year will be another of my enjoying hearing and watching the Kestrels raise their young. Thank you for sharing you techniques. I use the A9 with the 100-400 GM. I also have both of the teleconverters for when the light permits in the dark part of the Pacific Northwest I live in).

Enjoyed this video - well done 👍 It was great to see you get the close views of the female kestrel you had clearly worked hard on with the prior observation of her behaviour. Impressive you could predict the perches she would use & position yourself ahead of time. Really good that you stressed the importance of not disturbing the subject by chasing it around or getting too close. Lovely images at the end but perhaps you could give us a few more seconds on each & maybe use a larger font for the exif data. Looking forward to seeing more from you 😊
@stuartrobphoto

Thanks for the feedback Adrian - I'll definitely tinker with the font and a few more seconds for each image is an easy adjustment to make.

Thanks Gordon - there have been a few really great kestrels to photograph lately, perhaps it's because the number of people getting out and about has decreased. There's one at our local RSPB reserve that sits in the same bush most days.

Really enjoyed this, it was very relaxing to watch and listen to, and I liked the little in between shots of the tree trunks and flowers, etc. and the music. I did find the settings a little difficult to read under the beautiful images at the end, though! Nearly missed those! :) (Must go to Specsavers!) Will subscribe!

Thank you for the great feedback, and the size of the text is duly noted. It's really had to find a balance between it looking huge on a big 4K display, or tiny on a small phone screen, so I'll tinker a little more.

@stuartrobphoto
@stuartrobphoto 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Angus, it's a Manfrotto 756CX3 Mdeve carbon fibre tripod, but I don't think the model is still available, although there are similar versions. The head is a Manfrotto MHXPRO-BHQ2, which can just about handle the 600mm with body and grip. That is still available.

Why Sony A9......? For wildlife....
@stuartrobphoto
@stuartrobphoto 3 жыл бұрын
I choose the a9 (over my a7RIII) as the auto-focus is lightening-fast and offers lock-on tracking focus, both of which are perfect if you only have a short time to get an image. And of course, for moving animals or flying birds it's perfect. Up to 20 frames per second and silent shooting too.
@frostybe3r
@frostybe3r 3 жыл бұрын
@@stuartrobphoto Just surprised you didn't go with A7RIV for wildlife photography with Sony, I use an EOS R5 and 500 f/4L MK2 + 1.4X
@stuartrobphoto
@stuartrobphoto 3 жыл бұрын
@@frostybe3r I've used the A7RIV and A7RIII, and personally I'd rather have the body nail the focus first time, which I don't think either quite do. However, once I've got the shot with the a9, I do sometimes swap to the a7RIII if time allows.
