In this episode of Photography Online, we start our penultimate day of our challenge to photograph all 15 UK national parks in only 1 week. Today we are in the South Downs and the New Forest, but Marcus spices up the journey with the help of the world's hottest chilli. We then get some lessons in how to get started in wildlife photography - looking at the best settings and technique to ensure you get great results right from the start. James is then pounding the streets of Havana with his camera, looking for strangers to photograph. If you're too shy to approach people in the street, then this is a must watch to improve your street photography. Then finally Marcus shows us how to get Hasselblad X-pan results without having to actually buy the camera. The X-Pan is one of the most sought after film cameras, which makes it one of the most expensive, but as we will see, you can get the same results (possibly better) from a quick and simple hack.

Another great video everyone. Loved the carolina reaper stunt Marcus. James's face was a picture and Harry was crying. Well James got you back Marcus with the chair scene lol. I thought you were very close to the edge of the cliff Ruth to get your shots. I thought it was a bit of a risk You certainly captured some really nice image's when you went out on your own Ruth.. Marcus i think you are the master when it comes to film photography. Your image's are absolutely stunning. Look forward to the next show.

Great content in this latest episode. The chili pepper gag was hilarious, poor Harry and James. The wildlife feature was interesting and it was good that Harry covered a bit about fieldcraft and the welfare of the subject - that is so important in wildlife photography. Re the two Silver Birch images, definitely the first version, the sky was much more interesting.

My fave Sunday of the month! Great show as always! What are the thoughts on using auto ISO for birding?
@PhotographyOnline
@PhotographyOnline 19 күн бұрын
You don’t really want to use auto ISO as you’re then not in control of the exposure. It’s better to work in full manual mode if practical (which is usually the case).

Noooooooo! I can see why I'm not keen on seabird photography, watching Ruth and Harry perched on those cliffs gave me the heeebe grebes, I'd be to worried about losing my camera, let alone the thought of joining the birds in the sea, great feature though and some superb results, but not for me!

Great wildlife feature from Harry. Do you always use Manual exposure? If so, how do you it with something like birds in flight, where the light can change very quickly? Do you always expose for the subject and ignore the background? Hope this makes sense! 😊
@PhotographyOnline
@PhotographyOnline 26 күн бұрын
@@paulrandall8 you would usually always aim to use manual exposure unless you had your subject moving erratically in and out of different light. This is rarely the case though, so manual is usually easier.

@22:14 : " a noisy and sharp image is better than an unsharp clean image".... wow..I have always been afraid of the noise in the images and did not bump up the iso and there by did not go beyond 1/400.. after what he said, after all these years, I am thinking why I didn't I try ?

What's the ISO details on street photos? They are great contrast in seemingly dark areas!
@PhotographyOnline
@PhotographyOnline 26 күн бұрын
@@vijayantsharma9622 they were shot between 100-400, depending on the scene. Remember that the aperture is typically around f/2, so you don’t need very high ISO settings.

I live in the New Forest and cant believe that three photographers with everything from 35mm medium format and large format, could only come up with a tree, silver birch i believe and that was it, no ponies, no cricket match,Boltons Bench or church spire in the background, very poor.
@PhotographyOnline
@PhotographyOnline 26 күн бұрын
You think they play cricket in April?! Ponies are too cliched - which is why we chose not to waste time on them. We were there to get something original, not a retake on a classic - you can’t do that in the two hours we had.
