Hey! I use a Nikon D 5600 with an 18-300 lens. Im saving up for a better lens but have to do with this for now. How do I best optimise it for wildlife photography? Also most of the time the jeeps are in motion and donot stop completely resulting in blurry photographs. How do i work with that?

Very useful video, thanks. I have Canon 70D with Canon 100-400 II and Sigma 150-600mm Contemporary as tele lenses. And my flash is Godox TT685C. I do not have a flash extender, should I use a spot light or the flash to photograph leopards in twilight. What should be my settings?
@TheSafariExpert
@TheSafariExpert 3 жыл бұрын
I prefer spotlight, but you can use a flash as well if you want a more even light distribution. For flash photography, choose manual settings that expose the sky nicely and then switch on your flash and use the flash exposure compensation to expose the animal.

I have subscribed and gone through your online course in udemy and it helped me a lot. Especially this lecture is really very useful and I was able to capture some beautiful shots. Thanks so much. One quick question. Is there any way to get snaps of birds with relatively slow speed (especially owls) with spotlight at night? I use a Nikor AFS 200-500 f5.6 with a D500 body.
@TheSafariExpert
@TheSafariExpert 8 ай бұрын
I’m glad it helped 🥳 You would use the same settings I suggest in this video. If, however, the owl is sitting far away from you, you might have to slow down the shutter speed (to say 1/50sec), in which case you’ll have to keep the camera DEAD still…otherwise it will come out blurry. Ideally you want that 1/125sec or faster 👍🏻
@arunangshughosh1419
@arunangshughosh1419 8 ай бұрын
@@TheSafariExpert Thank you so much for responding. Actually I was thinking of still shot in flight for which 1/125 would be low. Hence was looking for options if any with f5.6...
@TheSafariExpert
@TheSafariExpert 8 ай бұрын
@@arunangshughosh1419, unfortunately you’ll struggle to photograph birds in flight at night in a spotlight - there’s just not enough light. For that, you’d have to use a flash, which would allow you to use a faster shutter speed.
@arunangshughosh1419
@arunangshughosh1419 8 ай бұрын
@@TheSafariExpert understood. Thanks so much Villiers for the suggestions ❤️. In this case do you suggest a flash to be attached in the camera or to be fitted anywhere else (a bigger external one). Also would love to have a suggestion on which one to buy. Thanks in advance.
@TheSafariExpert
@TheSafariExpert 8 ай бұрын
@@arunangshughosh1419, a strong hot shoe flash on top of the camera is probably fine, but it’ll depend on the situation. I’m still not sure where you’d be likely to photograph owls in flight at night. The type of flash will also depend on the camera you use.

Any advice for mirror less cameras? I've moved from the D500 to nikon Z7 and in all honesty I'm struggling get any decent shots even if the subject is well lit. Any help would be very welcome.
@TheSafariExpert
@TheSafariExpert 2 жыл бұрын
If you’re using good aperture, shutter speed and ISO settings, it’s probably a focusing issue. I suggest watching as many tutorials on the Z7’s focusing system as a starting point, making sure that you are using that correctly.

a bit more advanced than newbie, i want to shoot urban foxes at night time so there are a few good street lights, i have a canon M50, i would like a fast (2.0 or faster) 150mm+ lens for around the £500(uk) price point. i have a few good fast primes under 50mm that don't quite have the reach both ef-m and ef and i also have 100-400mm lenses but they are not fast enough for low light and fox motion. i have a few decent shots including a great few where one fox comes right up to my door to get his treats but i'd like to capture them doing their own thing at night. i also have good access to daytime foxes at a local cemetery so i'm good for daytime ones the 150mm+ lens i'd like would have to have af as i do have a couple of faster M42 takumar lenses at 3.5 and 4 but they are a bit slow on the aperture side and on manual focus. the closest lens i have at the moment is the laowa 100mm 2.8 macro but its a manual focus one. thanks for any help and great vid bud Laura

Is the reason you don't select Manual mode the lack of control over exposure compensation you will have?
@TheSafariExpert
@TheSafariExpert 3 жыл бұрын
Izak, yes - on some camera models. But remember, this is a tip/settings for beginners and thus manual is never a good idea (in my opinion). Time and a lot of experience has proven (to me at least) that these settings yield the best results at night (for beginners and amateurs).

What settings do u suggest about photographing owl at night? How to get rid of Red eyes n flash lights reflection on bird's eyes?
@TheSafariExpert
@TheSafariExpert 2 жыл бұрын
The only way to get that read from the eyes is to use a flash-bracket (to move the flash further to the side of the camera) or to use the red eye reduction function in Lightroom when you edit the photo.

i know that i have a really bad camera kkkk nikon d3100 but i need to ask. why the heck they put >1600 iso if the image will be all pixelated ?? i cant understand.... why i'm saying this (lol) i was trying to photograph at night in a safari with my 70-300mm (ok dark lens) and testing the iso i realize that all pictures was ruinnneed. The max i can get a good photo is with 800 iso. So i was wondering, why nikon put >1600 if we cant use it?
