One helpful hint: if you mix your own greens, put same yellow in 2 adjacent wells-one to mess up (by mixing green and contaminating the well) and one to leave pure fir when you actually need pure yellow.

I put a dab of yellow in the mixing area for mixing. It helps not contaminate the one in the well

Nicely done! I am glad to watch other Artists create their palettes and why they choose the colors and paints to create their own individuality crafted themes for colors and painting for the pictures they create, thank you.

Hi! It's nice to see you making videos again. 😊 I've started buying metal travel tins, empty pans and adhesive magnetic film to put on the back of the pans and so far it's working well for me. 😊

Thanks for the great video! I started with 2 types of most my colours to start with and didn't pay attention to the colours being transparent, semi transparent or opaque. I am slowly purchasing my favourite colours in the pro-series of the same brand and already bought a very large pallet for them. I want to keep some space for when I get better and feel confident enough to purchase the 4* of their pro series. For anyone interested, here is the order of my messy pallet. All colours listed are the Winsor&Newton cotman series. Lemon yellow, cadmium yellow cadmium orange cadmium red, cadmium red deep, alizarin crimson permanent rose purple lake, dioxazine purple (favourite) ultramarine, cerulean blue, turquoise, phthalo blue and Prussian blue (blue is my favourite to use.. obviously) viridian green, emerald, hooker's green light, sap green yellow ochre, raw umber, Vandyke brown Payne's grey, ivory black, lamp black White GOUACHE, same brand. (for details on top, because it is more opaque and actually shows) I love to experiment with my colours, that is why I have more than I actually would need. I found out I can do without a few colours that I obviously will not replace once they have been used up. Going to add some lemon yellow with the greens once I am out of emerald and will also not refill the sap green. One of the light browns will go too. I do keep both black. Lamp black is very rich and deep in colour. Silhouettes are great with this one. But I like the brown undertone of the ivory black for a bit more subtle shadow stuff. It is also more transparent.

I prefer gouache to watercolor but I just wanted to say how fantastic that palette is. It seals very well and will keep paint wet. I love having the removable palette as well. It's also easy to clean (which I do whenever my gouache starts getting messy).

Great video with very valuable information. Two suggestions, instead of glueing, use tiny round magnets attached to your pallet & empty pans. You can change extra colors accordingly and they can be removed when cleaning the palette. Also, keeping away colors which have white from others, will avoid loosing transparency in your paintings. Extra pans will be great for them. ❤

Why harden the color? I think the pigment would be better if I used it straight from the paint tube. Can you explain if my assumption is right or wrong? @makoccino ?
@Makoccino
@Makoccino Жыл бұрын
You can use it both ways! If I need a lot of pigment, I sometimes use the fresh paint from the tube. The paints I'm using are reactivated so easily and they behave just like tube paints once soft! Some other brands or pigments might behave different, but with the ones I have I don't have any problems using them both ways

How do you prevent mould from forming in the palette?

I never had this issue, so I can't help you with this :( Are you properly drying the palette before you close it?
@savannahcarlon7033

Mix the smallest drop of clove oil into each paint with a toothpick before it dries and hardens. This will help prevent mold and mildew without affecting the texture. You only need a very small amount, though, so be careful!
