1. Wear pads - knees, elbows, i use gloves; like with skateboarding and snowboarding. 2. And, how about getting nicer bigwheel skates, and putting small wheels on them as beaters so i can practice power stops/slides? I'm going to try that out soon on my big 125mms,
@TheLastHonestInfluencer
@TheLastHonestInfluencer Жыл бұрын
Neat idea! When i put 100mm wheels on my K2 mod 110's it improved them drastically. never considered going even smaller to practice power slides though. Protective equipment might work for some but I find knee and elbow pads cut off my circulation and cause knee pain and just generally made my skates less enjoyable. Probably I'd wear them and just deal with it if i was going to practice risky maneuvers like you're talking about. Thank you for your comment!

Your videos are super helpful! One thing I can't find a lot of info on, is how tight the toe box should feel across (width wise). Everything feels extremely narrow to me. I generally don't need a wide sneaker. Is that good for stability?

I find stability comes from having strong ankles and calves and from doing the boot up properly in the ankle region. It's really hard to explain this, it's something that you just sort of do by feel after a lot of skating. Hope that's at least somewhat helpful!

Hi, great video. I skated several years ago. I was on 90 mm; I believe K-2s. I got back into it recently. It 's not like riding a bike. I'm back to about where I was before using 80mm Rollerblades. Hi Robert thank you for your comment! Great to hear that you're getting back into inline skating. Honestly I haven't skated any 90 mm wheels that I liked. I prefer 100 mm or 80 mm just a personal preference. Mostly I like the feel of 80mm and 100mm for different reasons and find replacement wheels much easier to find. I know that's not very helpful in answering your question but I wish you all the best in your search for new skates!

Thank you for your videos. I am searching for a pair of skates for me and my wife for recreational and fitness skating. We both haven't touched inline skating since years. Here on the 'countryside' the pavement is often on the rougher side, thats why I am looking into larger and softer wheels. I feel a huge difference on my longboard when comparing 85mm to 75mm so I was looking for 90mm wheels on the skates. I was initially considering K2 F.I.T 90 BOA, but you did not recommend them in one of your other videos. For the 90mm macroblades you said they are the most uncomfortable of all macroblades :) . Are there any other options I should consider?
@TheLastHonestInfluencer

For rough roads I'd use 100mm for sure. I can't stand skating 80's or 90's on anything other than fresh asphalt after having felt how smooth the 100mm are. Hope that helps!

Hi I have a pair of 19 yr old rollerblade with many miles on them. Many!. Lol. Changed out bearings and wheels 3-4 times over the years. Started with abec7 bearing and went to lq9. The skates have a TFS (?) Lacing system that I love and they have been so comfortable. Tried ladies macroblade 100...very uncomfortable on my feet. Gave them to my daughter. Really would like to find a similar lacing system with better than abec 7 for smooth sailing and speed but not over the edge. I am 65 but love it!. Suggestions please. Thank you.

ILQ9 are my favorite! It's really tricky finding new skates that are as comfortable as old faithful perfectly broken in skates. My advice, what works for me, is to slowly phase in skating with new pairs and let them break in gently. That's too bad about the macroblade, those were the most comfortable for me right out of the box. Perhaps the K2'S would fit your foot shape better? K2 BOA lacing system is amazing. Have a look at the K2 VO2 boas would be my recommendation. They do take a bit to break in...but once they do they fit and lace and feel like a glove. Perfection!

Because of your videos, I purchased Macroblade 80 skates for fitness and love them. You said in one of your videos that you recommend switching off between two pairs of skates for daily use. I skate for fitness in parks where there are long smooth surfaces. Which pair would you recommend I get to complement my Macroblade 80? What would you say is the 2nd most comfortable skate behind the Macroblade 80? Or should I just get two pairs of Macroblade 80s? Thank you very much for your informative videos and answers.
@TheLastHonestInfluencer

Thank you so much for letting me know! I am super happy to hear you love them and they're working out for you!! I find having two different pairs that fit different and have different wheel sizes and or frame lengths keeps me from getting over use pain/injuries that can result when one trains every single day, it just stresses your feet/joints/legs slightly different. For that reason I would recommend getting the macroblade 100 3WD instead of a second pair of 80's. If 100mm wheels is too big of a jump right now the K2 VO2 90S boa is a wicked skate as well (I have the 100's). Once I swapped out the insoles they became one of my most comfortable pairs and I think you'd love them too if you love the macroblade 80. They feel a lot different but in a good way. Thank you again for coming back to let me know I really appreciate your kind words! Hope that helps, any other questions feel free to ask anytime!

@TheLastHonestInfluencer
@TheLastHonestInfluencer 2 жыл бұрын
You're most welcome! If 100mm wheels are suitable for you I'd go with the V02 S100 boa, I just recommend the 90's because they seem to be on sale all over the place right now, just had another person today comment that. The insoles I got were from a work warehouse type of store they are super thick made for steel toe boots. I find those work the best because they are firm and offer lots of support and last a lot longer than sport footwear replacement insoles. Unfortunately I can't recall the exact brand name, it was a pretty generic one they were only $25.

@@TheLastHonestInfluencer I know you have not reviewed them, but on paper what do you think of the Macroblade 110 3WD as a complementary skate to the Macroblade 80? The 110 has Hydrogen SE 110mm/85A wheels instead of the 100's Supreme, and Twincam ILQ-9 bearings instead of the 100's SG9. In your K2 Trio 110 review, you've recommended replacing the Rollerblade 100's Supreme wheels. I noticed that the Rollerblade 110 3WD comes with different brand wheels and better bearings out of the box, so thought maybe it's a better upfront purchase. But you've also said that 100 mm sized wheels is your favorite sweet spot. Any thoughts? Thank you!
@TheLastHonestInfluencer
@TheLastHonestInfluencer 2 жыл бұрын
Based on my experience putting 110mm wheels on my macroblade 100 3WD skates I'd say those 110's should be pretty sweet! I've never run hydrogens but with those bearings I'd assume the ride would be pretty fast and smooth! I don't like 110's in a 4 wheel configuration but they are SICK in a 3 wheel. Super fast, so smooth. Hope that helps! If those skates are only a bit more expensive than the 1003WD I say go for it! Hope I can get my hands on a pair for a review soon...

Sweden calling. I've spent days reading reviews and I can't decide. I would LOVE your advice. 🙏 I use my inlines for transport to work, in the city (streets, sidewalks, subway, shops, etc) but also go on roads with stones and sticks (suburb). I have a pair of SUPERcomfortable K2 VOmax (No idea which ones, but they are OLD!!) Bought somewhere back in 2003-2009. Original wheels were 84mm but I've bought new 90 wheels with good bearings. The other day the boots finally gave up on me. Several of the slings that hold the shoelaces in place snapped and the lining up in the back detached. Which is fine as I am ready to move on to 3x 100 or 110 mm. Here's my very detailed Q: I THINK the Trio LT 100 (W) or the Macroblade 110 3WD (W) might be something for me. I don't do any tricks at all really, I just like the speed. Having said that I ride right through traffic and have to mind cars, pedestrians, dogs, so need shorter blades for good maneuvering. I really like my 4 wheels but I would appreciate a bit more speed and definitely less impact on the less well paved roads and cobblestones. What would you recommend I get? Many thanks in advance, Rollermum.
@TheLastHonestInfluencer
@TheLastHonestInfluencer 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Anna-Lee! That is a difficult choice, both those models are very similar and I think both would serve you very well. I lean towards the macroblade because I find them lighter, more comfortable and more durable than my K2'S (my VO2'S boots are burning away inside after only 4,000 or so km). That being said, your old K2'S obviously fit you extremely well and lasted forever so it is quite possible their shape fits your feet better than mine. Are you able to try them on or must you order them online? If you have to order without trying them on I'd say go with the macroblade BUT I would recommend the 1003WD and here is why: I love 3 wheel skates for all the reasons you mention too. They are perfect for what you need, however, I have found that the 110mm wheels do offer a bit more speed but you have to sacrifice maneuverability. I also found that the 110's are rougher because they make the wheels skinnier to save weight. 100mm is the sweetspot for smooth ride, maneuverability and still are really fast. I hope that helps!!! We are splitting hairs here, I know both models from both manufacturers would be wonderful for you, but it's fun to be extra picky and why not? Any other questions fire away! -Jamie

@@TheLastHonestInfluencer THANK YOU! I was just about to add that I will have to order online and that I was considering the Macroblade 100 after your reviews. They are however quite a bit more extensive than the 110, as the 110 are on sale over here at the moment. (And I did try the 110 on in store, but what I think was a size too big, but couldn't conform due to them not having the next size down in the store.... also I read a luke warm review for the Trio 110 so started looking around. Have you any experience with the Story's? I'd never heard of that brand before, but the 3 wheel ones look good, judging by their own videos. I think my very first inlines were indeed Rollerblades and they were a good fit too.

@@TheLastHonestInfluencer oh, one more Q: Does it really make a difference if I chose the mens' version, as supposed to the women's? Providing I find my size.... they're just cheaper everywhere.

How strange! The 1003WD are on sale here for $220 at the moment. Shoot anyways. I'd definitely avoid the trio 110, they are SUPER heavy. I've never tried the story's either but they do look like they could be nice! Based on your updated information I'd be very tempted to give the trio LT100 a shot. I know in my review I said they weren't great but to be completely honest I like to give an opinion one way or another...so I was a bit harsh on them. They're pretty decent skates and I think for what you need specifically they would work better than a 110 even if it were the awesome macroblade.

Not at all. The only difference is looks. The small men's and large ladies both have similar measurements. I know several female skaters who only use men's skates without sizing issue (at least from K2 and rollerblade).

Have you ever tried hardboots? There are some very good brands like FR and Powerslide, which make hardboots for beginners at relatively low prices. I am thinking of the FRX, Seba E3, and the Powerslide Zoom-Series. One might think that hardboots are less comfortable and heavier, but I found this to be not true. It simply depends on the specific boot; some are quite uncomfortable for wide feet (like the Twister), but there are other models. The weight of the boot is something that does not really matter. And hardboots are VERY stable and give great support. After skating hardboots for a year or so, it is almost impossible to go back to softboots, because they feel less stable. I think that is one important reason why downhill-skaters use hardboots: they are looking for the best stability and softboots cannot offer this in comparison.
@TheLastHonestInfluencer

Thank you for this awesome comment your words really are great food for thought. The only hard boot I've ever tried was the Maxxum Edge 125. It didn't go very well for me as they hurt and felt too fit too small even though they seemed to be sized correctly based on measurements. You've made some great points and I'm keen to go a different model hopefully from Power Slide a go. They're just really hard to come by in the city I live in and I really want to try them on before buying, haven't had great experiences buying skates online without getting to try them first. Thanks again for the insightful comment and have a great weekend!
@nulldemokratiezwei7773

@@TheLastHonestInfluencer I have experienced exactly the same with the twister/maxxum boot: it is a hassle to put them on, they hurt when you are wearing them and it is a hassle to take them off. The PS Zoom are completely different, I can skate in them for hours without any pain. They are made for wider feet, just like the boots from FR. However, there is another problem with hardboots: they are not directly designed for fitness, so they usually come with very short frames (243 mm 4x80 or even shorter if 3x100). You seem like a pretty tall man, so you will not have much fun with a short frame, the skates will feel "wobbly" even at medium speed. So consider that you will end up not only buying a pair of new skates, but also another pair of frames. I am mostly using a 5x80mm setup and it is much fun. Very stable, cheap replacement wheels. But it has taken me a lot of "trial and error" until I found out the best setup for my skill level, style and purpose. Oh, and another con: you often have to buy brakes seperately and they are quite expensive. Cheers and have a good weekend, too!

I am considering the Rollerblade Macroblade 100 3WD - comfort is my biggest need. I am intermediate level and looking for fitness on a beach bike path for endurance training and fun! I am hoping this would be a good fit for me but doesn't have the boa technology. Any suggestions?

Great question! I really like the 1003WD for fitness, fun and endurance training. If you’re intermediate level you should be fine! They don’t have boa but they do have quick lace. Mine are ancient (5yrs, 3 sets of wheels old) and still great

Hey there, I've been very interested in going inline skating again after a long break. I've looked around and have found many attractive offers especially with the brand k2. On the one hand, I am interested as a newcomer already in a not too demanding but worthy of improvement inlineskate schuh... The "K2 VO2 S90 BOA BLACK/NIGHT" has done it to me so far.... I live in Switzerland but would certainly have the opportunity to ride in flat areas or even in the city (if I am then already good enough). How do you see that?? Greetings from Switzerland FJ

Hi FJ! Honestly the V02 S line are some of my favorites. I prefer the 100mm but that's a personal thing. Hope you got a pair and I hope you love them! Sorry for the delayed reply. Took a long break from KZfaq but getting back into it. Hello from Canada!

I just wore out my macro blade 80s. I blade about 8miles for fitness on a bike trail with hills and cracks and some debree... on many downhills i have to control my speed due to whats ahead of me. So im afraid to jump up to 100s. Any advice on my next best pair for fitness? Im considering macro 84s boa. Thoughts? Thanks

Wore them out! Nice work!! I think you’re wise to stick to 80’s if you have downhills and obstacles and you’re skating for fitness. Hard to stay in shape when you’re injured from a fall, and going faster on 100’s won’t help you stay in shape. If I bought 84mm skates I’d probably replace the wheels with 80mm (once the 84mm wore out) because they cost less and will work the same but other than that they’re a solid choice! Let me know what you buy and how you like them, always curious. Happy skating!!

Okay I have a question. I've rollerblade throughout my life off and on I really would like a pair of 3wd 100, do you prefer the macroblade or the powerslide
@TheLastHonestInfluencer
@TheLastHonestInfluencer Жыл бұрын
I’ve never tried the power slide to be completely honest. Reason being I hear people say they are very difficult to properly size and I have picky feet. I’m worried if I buy the wrong size I’ll have a hard time returning them or get stuck with them. The macro blade were true to size and I got them from a local place where I could have returned them if needed. I love the macro blade 1003WD. My 3 yr old pair is on its 3rd set of wheels and the boots are still fine. I was able to fit 110mm wheels on them…just fantastic skates for the money. I’ve heard lots of good things about power slide and I hope to be able to try some risk free one day!

For years I skate on K2 80 mm, and it was a time to nuy a new pair. The only pair which greatly fits is k2 vo 90 mm, and now im terrified to stand on them.. can I put a 80 mm wheels on them and is this really such a difference?
@TheLastHonestInfluencer
@TheLastHonestInfluencer Жыл бұрын
In my experience absolutely you can. I bought the k2 mod 110 and hated the way they felt. I put 100mm wheels on them and quite like how they feel now in comparison and they are actually useable. 80mm wheels on the vo 90 should be fine as well. Hope that helps!

I used to skate alot when I was young. Now I'm 40 and I want to start again. I'm not sure what to buy , rollerblade 80's or the rollerblade twister xt? Are the twisters worth the extra money?

Great decision! Twisters are not worth the extra money imo. Macroblade 80 is all you need to get started and great lots of great workouts in

@@TheLastHonestInfluencer thank you so much 😊 And last question , buy zetrablade or macroblade ? There isn't much diffrence, it seems like.. except the price

@@Suzuki-py6jk happy to help! The zetraablade have abs plastic frames and macroblade are aluminum. I've used both for well over 2,000kms, the difference is negligible they both hold up great. I do notice the plastic wearing a bit from wheel rotations but nothing that impedes use.

As a 40 years old that never skated before, and had the horrible error of buy a 20 bucks one "for testing" and at least can move really slow now... Should I get a soft boot or hard boot?
@TheLastHonestInfluencer
@TheLastHonestInfluencer Ай бұрын
If you’re skating for fitness go with a soft boot for sure. It’s a skill worth mastering because it’s such a great low impact cardio workout, you can get a great comfy new pair for less than $200 that will last you 10 years or more
