Growing a fall garden is easy, but you will need to plan it a few weeks before planting and many weeks before the first autumn frost. Understanding your first frost date and how long plants need to grow until harvest are important factors. General timeline:
12-14 weeks - beans, cucumber, parsnips, rutabaga, squash; start brassicas (cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, kohlraby) indoors
10-12 weeks - beets, carrots, chard, kale, peas, lettuce, radish, spinach, turnips
8-10 weeks - arugala, pac choi, kale, lettuce, radish, spinach
6-8 weeks - lettuce, radish, spinach
