If you're going to edit a colony, BACK UP YOUR SAVE FILE FIRST! As shown in the video, this can render your formicarium inaccessible(although you can still use it in freeplay), as well as potentially causing other problems.

By the way, stink ant and driver ant tiles are invisible, so all you'll see are the eggs. It's not super important, but you might be confused.

Loading into the formicarium with the ultimate colony has never crashed my game. Didn't know that ever happened.

Same here. I too was able to open the saved colony. No crashes. I can change the upgrades with royal jelly, which ofc I don't have though

just use the good old cheat engine strategy you use on every other kind of game, it works with dig tiles too but it doesn't seem to work on food

Does coding it to use every ant species corrupt any of your other colonies? Like, if you selected a bigheaded ant colony in freeplay, will the bigheaded ants be able to use army ants and driver ants? i want to use these nonplayable units, but I don't want to code the game just in case it might break, you know?

I'm 97% sure it won't affect any of your other colonies, but you should backup your whole save folder just in case. And don't worry about it messing up other colonies or anything, it all works normally unless you select the ultimate colony to play as(the AI can use the ultimate colony but it won't make things like driver ants or stink ants).

Does it only work on the 9th colony? Or you can put it in any colony, in my case, I want to put it in the first colony.

If you rename it to colony1 it'll probably go in the first slot, as long as you don't already have a colony with that name.

is there a way to get termites, bullet ants, and matabele ant soldiers upgrades? i tried with the tutorial but it only works on the normal ereptor ants like matabele medics, leafcutter majors, woodant spitters, black ants, fireants and ereptor worker + queen. (the upgrade issue also applies to woodant melee, and leafcutter media just termites and matabele ants are more useful).

You mean royal jelly upgrades? I assume you would need to beat formicarium challenge 5 to unlock those. I don't know though, it crashes whenever I try to open the formicarium.

@@plasmamuffin1320 it has only when i messed with the code for termites, bullet ants, and matabele melees. but yes the royal jelly upgrades but they only work on the units you get before reaching the plus levels

@@lamp1820 Huh. Well, I'm sorry, but I have no idea how to help you, this is a little beyond my scope(as demonstrated by the fact that I didn't even try manually editing my colony). Maybe start over from a fresh save and try again? Or get all the upgrades you can and then edit the save.

True, I didn't show how to edit the colony directly, but linking the save file and the instructions on how to edit the files yourself is still useful, especially since all the guides on this topic keep getting taken down.

@@plasmamuffin1320 I take them all down mysel so that there is only one source to get the guide now, through the slug disco official discord server. The illiterates now can at least ask for help before reporting their wrong-doings as bugs.

Unfortunately, I have no idea how to do this on other operating systems. What oeprating system do you have? You might try looking up "(operating system name) empires of the undergrowth save file location" and see if you can find anything there. Alternatively, you could search your whole computer for a file called "colony1.sav" which should appear in the save file location, but that might take a while.

True, I didn't show how to edit the formicarium files themselves, but I did link the post that explains it, as well as the download for the save file with all ants, and a lot of people don't know about that.

@@plasmamuffin1320 wait, then how'd you get the custom colony? you had to put it in somehow, and I'm asking for you to show how you put the custom file into the .sav You already put it in once, so if you could just record your full process for putting it in again that'd be helpful

@@apolloivanovic2578 OHH I thought you meant editing the save file directly. To put the save file in your game, just go to the folder it downloaded to, copy colony9.sav and paste it into C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\EotU\Saved\SaveGames
