A few days ago I made a video about first steps in the exploration of this game. Now I have access to the source code and one of my future videos will be about more awesome hidden stuff! But for now I want to show you the way to play as any game character. It's very simple and you can easily do the same without some pro-level coding. Yeah, these characters are broken and the game is mostly unplayable with them. I tried to use their controllers as well, but none of the commands worked for me. Maybe there is still a way to make them 100% playable, but I couldn't find it.
So, how to change your character?
1) Open the 'System' folder inside of the Spider-Man 2 game folder.
2) Find and open User.ini file.
3) The first lines of this file are:
[DefaultPlayer]
Name=Player
Class=Webhead.SpideyPawn
4) Just change "SpideyPawn" with any of the classes I show you in this video. For example, if you want to play as Rhino, your Class variable should be equal to Webhead.RhinoPawn
5) That's it! If you wanna play as Spidey again, just write back "SpideyPawn". You can also just comment this original line with the ";" symbol, copy this line without the comment symbol and set the class you need. After that, you can quickly uncomment the original line to play as Spidey.
There's even more characters available in the files, I didn't show you pedestrians, scientists and other generic people. You can find their classes using Dragon Unpacker 5. Just open the Webhead.u file, hold ctrl+S and search for the "Pawn" word. Every Pawn class can be used here.

Also, he has his idle animation only if you open this level in Free Play mode. In other case he just repeatedly attacking... And you can see, that all his triggers can be activated. Plus all non-Spidey boss/people characters can't really die. Rhino doesn't teleport in the Mysterio level. And he doesn't die when he jumps off the train.

That was basically everything I've found, but I hope you can find even more. I think it's possible to replace Spidey's controller with the specific controllers of these characters and then call their functions with the buttons.
