Great News! Now available on Amazon, an Ebook that teaches you the ultimate secret of how to always make the correct move to win, titled: "Winning Checkers" by Patrick Woo-Sam. Please support our channel by downloading the Ebook.
Thank you.
mybook.to/Winningcheckers
This video is for players that have never played checkers before, but want to learn how, all the way up to advanced players. It shows how to win 9 out of 10 games using 13 strategies and secrets by a player that has played over 20,000 games online and became a Grand Master on Flyordie.com recently after only 5 months. Videos of live games will be uploaded unedited apart from graphics to explain how I use my strategies and secrets to win.
Watch me briefly discuss the strategies and secrets then take a look at the live games to see them in play:
1) Only learn 1 opening move for white and 2 responses for black and become an expert on these
initial moves.
2) Control the center.
3) Move your checkers out from the single corner first.
4) Always try to keep a checker on square 5 up 3 from the left.
5) Always attack your opponents double corner.
6) Keep your checkers on the back line intact as long as possible.
7) Get a king before your opponent.
8) Pull your opponent's checkers from his back row so that you can get a king.
9) Set traps.
10) Line your checkers up in lines of 3 or more.
11) Trade checkers when you are ahead by 1 or more checkers.
12) Stop, look, listen before you move.
13) Practice, practice, practice, practice.
Please subscribe, like, share and comment.
For more training on the positions, check out the playlist by Position at • By Position .
For advanced strategies see • How to play checkers a...

Wow I’ve been playing this game for over a decade and I never realized that you have to jump a checker if there is an open space behind it. I would avoid jumping sometimes because I knew it was bait for a double jump lol

Yeah. I always thought checkers is a simple game. But when I played against a strong AI, I realized that it's quite tricky and very unstable. You could lose very easily in just one wrong move (especially against maxed AI engine). Unlike in chess, you can still hold on even if you have made a huge blunder.

Hi Sydney. Thank you for your purchase. I hope it's improving your percentage of wins. Please write a review when you can. It helps promote it to other players. Unfortunately I don't. I use a real checker board with checkers to analyze games I lost. I find it easier to do that.

What should be my opening move? And what should be a great response? Btw loved your explanation.
@WinningCheckers
@WinningCheckers 2 жыл бұрын
The strongest opening move is old faithful. Become an expert in winning with this opening move. Most players use it. There are 2 great responses. The 1st. is to respond with old faithful (watch the various videos and you will see that I do that all the time!). the second is when your opponent moves to position 6 or 7 as their first move. Always block them from getting into your right hand corner square. See our various videos and the upcoming ones. This is normally the weakest opening moves, because you can pin one of your opponent's checkers.

No, there are so many books that talk about the theory of playing Checkers, especially about the various openings. I suggest only one opening and 2 responses when playing second. In this way you will immediately start winning more games as you become more experienced with the subsequent moves, since you will have eliminated hundreds of different possible moves if you use all the different openings and defenses. When you start winning more, you can then start experimenting with all the possible openings eg. The Waterloo, the double corner, the dyke, the souter etc. Please let me know if you want me to record our game beforehand. Good luck!

Because in English Draughts or American Checkers there are no flying kings. A king can can move backwards or forwards and jump backwards or forwards, unlike a checker which can only move and jump forward.

@WinningCheckers
@WinningCheckers 2 жыл бұрын
Yes that is correct, but only diagonally on the colored squares (brown in this case). It cannot move sideways or up and down like the king in chess one square at a time. Also, the king in chess cannot jump! like the king in checkers.
@WinningCheckers
@WinningCheckers 2 жыл бұрын
@@jasonjrf Yes like a bishop in chess, because a king in checkers moves diagonally, but unlike a bishop in chess (which cannot jump) a checkers king jumps over the opponents' checkers to take or capture as long as there is an empty space behind or in front of the opponents' checkers (English draughts or American Checkers rules). Others, variations of checkers, like Russian, French have flying kings!

The must jump rule in my opinion is a great rule in English draughts or American checkers, because it forces your to play accurately. There are other versions of checkers that give you the option of jumping or not and also flying kings. Those versions are called French or Russian draughts.

Just practice, practice, practice and learn from your mistakes. Learn the 22 strategies and secrets by heart. They are very similar to chess. Control the center, fork, scissors, bridge etc. Concentrate on pulling your opponents back checkers away, so you can get a king, while keeping your 2 anchor checkers in place. Hope this helps.

@@WinningCheckers Which version of checkers does the World Draughts Federation use? Flying kings like Russian version or single jump like Anglo version?
@WinningCheckers
@WinningCheckers 2 жыл бұрын
@@rgqwerty63 I am not an expert on World Draughts Federation rules, only on English Draughts or American Checkers. However, from my brief research on KZfaq, it seems that World Draughts Rules uses a 10x10 board instead of an 8x8 checker board (English Draughts or American Checkers) and 15 checkers each side (sometimes 20) instead of 12 each side (English Draughts or American Checkers. To answer your specific question in World Draughts Federation rules, Kings (actually Queens!) can fly like Russian Checkers, and jump over their opponents checkers with many spaces apart from one in between. It's best to agree on the rules before you play, because there are so many variations of this simple to learn and fun game. However, it is like chess very difficult to master!

In English draughts or American checkers if you can jump a checker you must do so (mandatory jump). In my opinion this is an excellent rule since in your case you may set up a trap, but what if your opponent decides not to jump? What happens to you trap?
