STP was a motor oil supplement. STP then it was the drug that sent so many to the medical tents of Woodstock in '69. These days STP means solid awesome riffs 🎸🤘

The band was originally called STP due to the old STP (motor oil supplement) stickers that were everywhere in the 70's. They then, for good fun of course, created the acronym Shirley Temple's Pussy. Record execs refused to sign them unless they changed it. Stone Temple Pilots was recommended to them and they just went with it to get the contract and shut everyone up. They all absolutely HATED the name and referred to themselves as just STP. To them, there is no such band as Stone Temple Pilots. They were STP.

hey !!! i just wanna say your guitar lessons are my absolute favorite and whenever i go to learn a new song i always check your channel first for a lesson . perfect mix of verbal instruction and tabs . anyways ! just wanted to ask if you could please do a lesson and cover on “Sin” from this album !! it’s one of my favorite deep cuts and has a killer tone and one of my favorite solos at the end which i’ve never been able to learn well . cheers !!!❤️❤️

Fantastic job, per usual!! Must say... you had me at Pearl Jam but this branching out has been absolutely fabulous!! Basically, every song has been one that I’ve been wanting to learn (those not so mainstream type songs especially). If you happen to be in search of additional STP songs to cover, might I suggest Meatplow... heard it yesterday and man, what a killer song! Great job, many thanks, and much appreciated!!!
