Thanks for the simple, easy to follow instructions. I played cribbage one time several years ago but didn’t remember a thing. This brought it all back in short order.

So the scoring is clear for the most part, but I have a question about runs. So I’m the example when it was played 4,6,5 they get 3 points; but what if I played another 6; I get a run too, but do I also get to count the other combination that was already played ? And then if the other person plays another 5, all the cards in play would now be “4,5,5,6,6” so would they get 4 runs of 3 during the pegging play?

Each player has two pegs that leapfrog over each other. He placed the peg from the back one hole in front of the other. This helps to keep track of points scored.

Shouldn't the cards that were played be turned face down once a player gets the go before the next player begins again. Otherwise too many cards are face up adding to confusion.

+Filippo Piovani If you have a card which can be played as long as the running total is less than 31 you must play it, and if possible the second card. If you cannot play a card that does not exceed 31 you must say go and your opponent scores 1 point for the go. Then you'll play both cards in your hand, thus pegging 1 point for the last card played and/or any pairs, or 15's.
@crystallight2
@crystallight2 5 жыл бұрын
If you or the opponent run out of cards the person with cards lays down their cards like normal play. Remember you can't go over 31. A common example is my opponent ru s out of cards using low count cards. The next round starts with me still holding 3 cards. I would then play my cards until I run out, pegging points as I go if able.

I have a question that I ran into. If you a the dealerand she plays a 9, then you play a 9, then she plays a 9. You don't have any cards 4 or lower, so you say go. Then she plays an ace then a 2. Do I play out my last three cards or do we reshuffle.

At 4:29, doesn’t she have 14? 8+7 for 2, 6+2(8) +7 for 2, 7+2(9) +6 for 2, hearts for 5, run for 3, equaling 14? I’m confused, isn’t the point to get every variation?
@GatherTogetherGames
@GatherTogetherGames 5 жыл бұрын
You've counted the 7, 6, and 2 for 15 twice. 6+2(8) +7 and 7+2(9) +6 use the same cards and can only be counted once.

You said that a Go is worth 1 point, but at 5:47 you move your leg forward 10-11 spaces. How can that be?
@Jaydoggy531
@Jaydoggy531 5 жыл бұрын
The count is made from the most-forward peg; you pick up the peg behind and count from there. You don't technically need the two pegs and can just count it forward. It's just how the traditional counting was made in this game. It lets you keep track of how many points you made in between moves.
@bensirach3586
@bensirach3586 5 жыл бұрын
@@Jaydoggy531, so if I've got it right, you count the spaces in front of the forward peg? If so, then that makes sense.

What happens if I make 31 with a King as the last card to make 31 and I have another King in my hand? Rules I am reading say that, even though 31 has been reached, the play does not begin again until I have played that 2nd King to make a pair. Is this correct? I say "10 for 31" and then "King for a pair"?
@GatherTogetherGames
@GatherTogetherGames 4 жыл бұрын
Once the count hits 31, the count will reset. Points are not scored between counts. So, if a new count starts with a king, no pair is scored from the previous count ending on with a king.
@keenanmsc
@keenanmsc 4 жыл бұрын
@@GatherTogetherGames But what if the player who reached 31 with a King has a match, HIS King, not the opponent's (the opponent would start the count at zero) Doesn't make sense but my directions suggest the "winner" (the player who reached 31) could play the match.
@GatherTogetherGames
@GatherTogetherGames 4 жыл бұрын
Once 31 is hit, no more cards are played to that count. The player would score for hitting 31, but not for having a pair of kings. The player would score the pair of kings in the hand scoring phase. I hope this helps!

@belgianwaffles99

You leapfrog the pegs so the one still on the board is the position you start from. That way if you miscount the number of spaces, lose count, or you need to keep a cheating friend honest, you have a record of what the previous score was.

It’s really not. What’s throws people off is the score keeping is awkward. If you know the basics I recommend playing online where score is kept for you and you’ll have it down within 30 minutes i promise. Actually it’s the simplicity which throws people off. People expect it to be more than what it is but the fact is, this game is actually over simplified. Not one of my preferred games, strategy doesn’t really matter to much. All card cakes have an element of luck in cribbage luck really is about 80% of the outcome.
