I asked about including something like this quite a while back... Probably wasn't my suggestion that got it happening, but I'm happy to see it regardless. Fantastic inclusion, IMO.

I think mixing rogue with Samurai could be fun. For those not familiar, a Samurai can, three times per long rest, say "I have Advantage" and if I remember correctly that is all you really need for sneak attack.

Also! You have to decide which attack uses sneak attack as you do them. So if you don't use it on your first attack, then see you missed your second. You don't get to go back and add it to the first one.

honestly I was thinking the Scout. Between the extra skills and expertise in them, and the additional movement speed that applies to all types of movement; it seems tailor-made for Daredevil

Shadowfaux that’s a good point. However where I was coming from was more of the senses aspect of things. The first three things the inquisitive gains are all related to senses.

Thief is needed for second story ability. True, you could go for the athlete feat, but this build is absurdly M.A.D. and needs every ASI you can get. Without monk 9, a tulok favorite (see Batman, Nightwing, Spiderman, Flash, and probably more), you need some movement options. The parkor abilities.

I just realized something. Many of the Inquisitive and Battlemaster and Monk abilities rely on sight. This character is blind. We mitigated the penalties for that in melee, but ranged attacks are another thing. Insightful fighting requires you to study your opponent. Same with the Battlemaster ability. The maneuvers are sweet, no lie, but Tulok chose champion for the increased crit range which leads to more chances for sneak attack. And a second fighting style for his monk weapon attacks' damage.

Standard Array Dex - 15 Con - 14 Strength - 13 Wisdom - 12 Intelligence - 10 Charisma - 8 Cortana does most of the heavy thinking and you don't talk a lot. You need strength for armor and dex for your guns. Character would be variant human (Spartan-116 is human with a lot of surgical and chemical augmentations). +1 point into strength and dex. Skill proficiency will be survival. Feat will be Human Determination for another ability point and advantage on 1 attack roll, ability check, or saving throw per short or long rest. I'd recommend Strength or agility unless you rolled and got 16 in strength. If that's the case, put the point into dexterity or constitution if you have 19 in either. Background is soldier. Athletics is useful for a running tank, and you can send grunts running by looking at them. You could start out as rogue, in which case - Acrobatics - Insight - Perception - Stealth You can fill in the details before Cortana finishes her sentences, pull off some impressive jumps (even if augmented by technology), and sneak up on Covenant forces for the odd ambush if you don't get close. Expertise would be Athletics and Perception. You don't want to be surprised after all, and you're ridiculously strong. Don't skip athletics. Go with rogue until level 4. Pick the scout archetype that will give you proficiency in survival and nature. You'll want it for survival, as it lets you double your proficiency for any checks made with survival, giving you what amounts to expertise. At level 4, pick up Tough. You'll get 2 extra HP per level, and John can take a beating. At this point, go with 6 levels of fighter. Your style will be close quarters shooter (+1 to ranged attacks, no disadvantage at close range, ignore cover within 30 ft), and pick the gunslinger subclass. This one isn't official but best fits the demon's gun skills. Alternatively, pick champion (for crits on 19-20), Sharpshooter (might fit the style you're using), or samurai (for more at will advantage on attacks which allows you to do sneak attacks more often). Pick what suits your fancy. For ability score improvements or feats, at level 4 and 6, cap strength at 16 if you haven't already. This will let you use nearly any armor in the game with minimal penalties. Plate armor will give 18 AC. You'll probably want some sort of enchanted plate armor to replicate the effects of the mjolnir armor. The rest should go to dex or con. If you're comfortable with your stats at this point, you could pick up crossbow expert (or a reflavored version of it for guns) for faster reloads. Finish off with 10 levels of rogue for reliable talent (you are good with your arsenal), and blindsense as a close range radar against cloaked elites. For ability score improvements at level 8 rogue, make sure that dex is capped and that con is at least 16. As for level 12 rogue, you should be able to do what you want at this point. For level 6 expertise, pick insight and Intimidation. For feats, you'll have some options. Human determination will give you advantage on attacks which pairs nicely with rogue sneak attack bonuses. Resilient can be used to bring an odd ability score up to your desired cap (recommend for constitution) and gain proficiency in the associated save. Sharpshooter and crossbow expert are good for ranged attacks. Heavy armor master works for your eventual armor choice. Lucky fits for what halsey described as John's element of unpredictability. Mobile fits with the rogue's bonus action dash as well as John's run and gun approach. And tough fits for the iconic Spartan's ability to survive. Overall, if you rolled and did well, you could take six of the eight feats (1 from variant human, 2 from fighter, 3 from rogue). If you do, I'd recommend picking archery as your fighting style as crossbow expert and Sharpshooter provide the same effects as close quarters shooter (only better). Alert is a good option if you want more perception and not being surprised, but you'll be covered fairly well by expertise in perception, advantage on initiative from Scout's Ambush Master, and rogue's blindsense. Reliable talent and stealth proficiency minimize the impact of disadvantage on stealth (and despite size, you can sneak up on grunts). You'd have 40-50 speed, allowing you to maintain the distance that you prefer (40 from Rogue Scout, 50 if you take mobile). High dexterity, fighting style, and feats can make you good at being accurate. Sniper (+10), advantage from human determination, ambush master and/or samurai (chance for critical hits and guaranteed sneak attack), ambush master giving advantage on all subsequent hits against your first target until the start of your next turn, extra attacks from level 5 fighter and action surge, and sneak attack damage once per turn (7d6 when you have advantage against an enemy while using a ranged or finesse weapon) can be brutal. An average of 38 extra damage without critical hits, allowing you to take down single enemies with ease (bbeg beware). Proficiency in dexterity saves and evasion from rogue can make you able to avoid a lot of damage. High passive perception can make it nearly impossible to be surprised. Simply put, you've got a lot going for you. The downside would be the saves. Charisma, wisdom, and intelligence are a bit lower than they should be, with wisdom and intelligence saves being positive (intelligence by proficiency from rogue). AC is a bit lower than it could be, but you could probably rely upon spellcasters to provide that support. You could start with fighter, but that would mean fewer skills. You could also take Paladin for heavy armor and more attacks, but I'm not sure if any subclasses would fit well or synergize with the rest of the character. Hopefully that gives you an idea what Spartan 117 would look like.
