Love to do A foward deepstrike of Deathwing Terminators supported by The lion to occupy the enemy force and their firepower. All the while I have tons of Hellblasters getting fire support in with Ravenwing bikes getting the secondairies.

Rather then Deathwing Knights you might want to consider a command squad with a normal Deathwing terminator squads stacked giving you a 3 -7 squad, as you get the apothecary to bring a terminator back in each command phase which is nice when paired with 1 terminator using a stormshield for the extra wound to soak up incoming damage, then to just come back next round. Plus one to OC from the Ancient and plus one to advance and charge rolls from the champion which also gives 0CP heroic intervention.

I spam the command squad with strike masters for the lethal hits. Most times I bring 1 knight squad just cuz that -1 to dmg is amazing. But I like your idea of running 1 storm shield to soak up extra wounds in the command squad!! I’m gonna try that! I’m still kinda new so I’ve lost a few matches I prob could have won but I’m doing really well with spamming the DW and terms

im planning for my first 1k or 5k army points for space marines and i was questioning myself over and over again for my chapter but after lion el Johnson got released ive decided to get them, so im making my space sharks be part of the dark angels. painting my dark angels with the carcharodons colour schemes and with the new space marines revealed ill be able to get in some good melee/fast units)

You must roll for a battleshock test mate, in the core rules it says if your below half strength you must take a test, to do so roll 2d6 and consult your leadership so no option to auto fail lol 😂 I don't think it would make sense being able to just say yeah I'm battleshocked which is why the rule is abit meh compared to Gladius in my opinion mate

I'm interested to hear whether you think the Lion is still a strong pick after the recent changes to Devastating Wounds no longer causing Mortal Wounds. This means that his 4+++ Aura no longer works against DWs and will only work against MWs. I feel that this change has made him a lot more vulnerable to Devastating Wounds. Is he still worth the 380 points? Also, the same for our Deathwing Terminators. IMO our Deathwing Knights are still affected by the changes, but not quite as much now that DW don't spill-over onto other models. Curious to know how you think this affects DA!

The Unforgiven TF has been bit unfairly criticised, IMO. First of all, the Pennant on a termie ancient on even just a 5 man deathwatch termie or knight squad gives you a tough, deep striking squad, with OC2 each, even if battleshocked. And I always have issues with battleshock (I have notoriously bad rolls). So, I find massive value in the Unforgiven TF. Always having OC and little buffs here and there if battleshocked can often keep you in a game. Plus, the stratagems provide a good general purpose toolbox. Azrael is always an auto include. I know people tend to stick him with hellblasters, but stuck with sternguard works well too with the sustained+dev wounds can be nasty.

The Dark Shroud is interesting tech, I misread it originally and thought it still only applied to Ravenwing units. I gotta say though, as good as Deathwing knights are, investing 25%+ of your points just sounds really bad in an edition that requires mobility and adaptability. Doubling down on that by trying to combo the Lion with lone op means half your army is essentially locked in one spot and your opponent is gonna run up that Secondary score

Yeah I agree the dark shroud is great, I would deffo include one in every DA list if I could! I think the thing with the death wing knights we are aiming to have them hold one objective but you could just run 5 or two units of 5, they. The lion goes for a separate objective to the terminators but as we said you could go azrael instead for cheaper options I just think the Lion is an auto include for a number of reasons! I appreciate your feedback though dude and we haven't played the army where as you probably have so I do get what your saying 😌

@VT_Jord after all my little speeders go to legends it will probably find its way back into my list. I also hadn't thought much about the Lone Operative lieutenant, so that will work into my list I think. I have such a strong aversion to the terminators after running 20ish games with them and being disappointed with their output in every game

I started to type up a comprehensive break down but it was way too long and hard to keep organized. The short answer is, if you actually break down the offensive/defensive profiles and do a full SWOT a land raider redeemer or repulsor can do a similar job for 300 or 200 points respectively, which gives you another 250-350 points in your list to add more lethal units like hellblasters, desolation squads etc. Low strength on shooting units is more effectively mitigated with a storm speeder thunderstrike, than through the strat for [lance] which only triggers on the charge, where the thunderstrike triggers every activation. The thunderstrike is also a threat on its own, while the strat costs cp

Played an australian tournament recently with deathwing knights. I didn't do particularly well (first tournament) but damn they are tough. I ran mine with a terminator chaplain for the permanant 4+++ vs mortals and the +1 to wound. They absorbed brutal amounts of shooting, and the improved wound roll means they blap big things really easily. They one shot Kairos, a full unit of custodian guard with blade champ, and just three killed a karnivore, always with damage to spare. Flat 3dmg was brutal, especially with the number of 2+ hitting attacks they output.

I only play my DA with gladius because it’s just better. The command squad with strikemaster is the best unit I think DA can bring. Especially adding in bolter discipline (can spend 1cp to give dev doctrine to that squad every turn that’s lethal and sustained hits on 5+, sustained is ranged only)

@@no-nonseplayer6612 I’m a bit of a meta gamer and the numbers and what I’ve experienced myself say unforgiven is a bottom tier detachment. Dark angels have won more in tournaments using gladius. Now that we have the new ones, there’s even better.

@@no-nonseplayer6612 the whole detachment is niche is kinda the issue. It revolves around being battle shocked. And takes away from other buffs. To my point, I would never lose to dark angels using unforgiven with dark angels using a better detachment. (Save for the off chance I literally roll the worst rolls in human history)

My favourite combos are DW Strikemaster with DW Command and Primaris Librarian with Hellblasters. Oh and Terminator Librarian with DW Knights...

I use the chaplain right now because we can still reroll the wound with OoM until codex comes out. But I might try the librarian once that changes. Command squad and strike master is my favorite. Throw bolter discipline on one 10 man term block. Get some some good chip dmg and maybe decent dmg from cyclones.

Chaplain is better with knights, making anything from T7 to 11 wound on a 4+ still, and crushing T4 to 5 on 2s. His mortal wound FNP is necessary. Lib or strikemaster on the CC termies depends on what heavy weapons you take. Assault Cannon and plasma wants sustained, cyclone wants lethal and flamers wants neither. In DA detachment I'd lean more to the lib because 1cp gives you free lethal. In gladius, depends on where you want the fire discipline, but I'd look to but it on HIntercessors because it's only for ranged and termies should be within rapid fire range aka near melee. Librarian in hellblasters is fine if you ain't DA. Take azrael for sustained hits and 4+ invuln AND a once battle 4+ fnp, then add an apothecary for free. revives.

Informative, but the video could have benefited by cutting to the models being spoken about at the time, or general panning over them. Even box art or general images of battlescenes would spruce it up nicely.

As a Dangels player, this detachment is crap. For anything to cool to happen you need to be battle shocked, for battle shock to happen you need to be below half strength or suffer from something that hands it out, this doesn't happen very often, then you need to fail a dice roll that statistically you will pass more often then fail. This is stupid, not as bad as the Wolves Sagas but stupid none the less.

Deathwing Knights dont have any ranged weapons, so are not eligible to do Deploy Teleport Homers. I think they are best used being led by a Chaplain for the +1 to wound. Edit: The rules commentary makes it clear that any unit can be eligible to shoot even if it has no ranged weapons.

Hey Steve, so anyone can be eligible to deploy teleport homers or be eligible to shoot as is the requirements for that secondary even if they don't have any ranged weaponry. You are still eligible provided you Havnt advanced or Fell back or in combat. You just have to have the ability too shoot that's all that is required to be eligible, hope that helps dude

@@SteveB182 if you check in the core rules in the shooting phase there is a part that states select an eligible unit, that explains it all there. If your using the app go to core rules/battle round/shooting phase and it will be underneath there for you mate
