You've heard it in every coffee shop and at every wedding. "Don't Know Why," written by Jesse Harris, is without a doubt Norah Jones' most recognizable hit. In this lesson Devon will show you how to play the melody version for solo piano, or how to accompany a singer. Keep in mind that because this song is largely guitar driven (with occasional piano sparkles), the arrangement reflects the guitar part and general momentum of the song more than it reflects the piano part.

I write way different tunes depending on what instrument I start with. For some reason guitar in my head = angry/happy and ivory = melancholy/sad. I almost hate it but it's a thing in my world.

Wow. What a tutorial… My piano career is almost entirely self taught through videos almost like this, but they’ve never gone through theory, or even the base chords of the song. It really lets you make the piece almost your own as you add the flair, as you can jazz it up to your own liking while keeping it grounded on the starting chords. Beautiful song, and your playing is great too!

I am wondering if there is a music sheet score for this version? All the other ones I found on google don't have the "jazz blue" style with the slightly out of rhythm keys like this one but that's what I think made it beautiful

Aww. 😢 The lower keys on my piano are stuck. Maybe if I scoot way over and play it in a higher octave! 😅 You know it's practically impossible to find a piano tuner where I live in Texas? Yea. The lower keys are all on one pedal and I've looked inside and it doesnt seem to be lifting and lowering properly. I wonder if it's even salvageable? My fingers CRAVE the piano. Then I sit down and play it and become disgruntled every time! But I refuse to quit! I love playing! ❤

you make this video so confusing, and you move far too quickly between finger positions, lots of people don't know the theoretic side of piano, and if you want to teach beginners you really should consider that. what may be very simple to you takes others a second, and you keep interrupting with explanations of theory that are irrelevant until you're playing proficiently
