RULES:
The object of this 2 player game is to be the first player to get 5 in a row horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. Using a Go gameboard and stones, players alternate taking turns placing the stones on any empty intersection. Black goes first then the players alternate. Stones may not be removed from the board once placed. A common variation to play with is the Swap 2 rule.
With Swap2, at the beginning of the game, the first player starts by placing three stones: 2 black and 1 white on the board. The second player then selects to either: play black, play white and place one more stone, or place two more stones of any color and let the first player choose the color they want to be.
The first player to get 5 in a row wins!

My daughter and me play Gomoku every Saturday at 4 at the Starbucks at 4116 Dempster in Skokie. We’re always looking for new people to play with. We have an extra board.

Try to get a 4 line (four line) or a 4-3 (four-three)!

When building 3 the opponent has a last chance to counter the build. However, when building 3 on 3 the opponent has no chance to counter, so building positions into open space is desirable. If one player builds towards the board edge, it's not a advantageous tactic.

Your swap2 version is wrong! After 3 stones(2 black,1 white) second player can choose black or white. Second player can continue with white simple. If second player don't like the open, he can put more 2 stones (white and black, not any color!) After that, player one will choose with wich one will continue!

No, it's basically connect 4 + 1. No extra steps

It's connect 4 but you can put pieces were you want and the board can be used for other games too, like Go, rather than being a clunky plastic case used for literally nothing but Connect 4

Hi,what is the origin of the name gomoku?
@TripleSGames
@TripleSGames 4 жыл бұрын
Gomoku has existed in Japan since the Meiji Restoration. The name "Gomoku" is from the Japanese language, in which it is referred to as gomokunarabe (五目並べ). Go means five, moku is a counter word for pieces and narabe means line-up. The game is also popular in Korea, where it is called omok (오목 [五目]) which has the same structure and origin as the Japanese name. In the nineteenth century, the game was introduced to Britain where it was known as Go Bang, said to be a corruption of the Japanese word goban, said to be adapted from Chinese k'i pan (qí pán) "go-board."
