@@coolroachbugs as of the 2019 sage advice it is clarified that they don't stack since reliable talent specifies you need to make a check you are proficient with.

Minimum for a Level 20 Rouge with no magic, reliable talent and expertise in Stealth is 27. So your rouge would to roll a 20 on the dice to match the passive check. Having magic items only makes it slightly easier (things like the +2 dexterity book, cloaks of elvenkind, someone casting Pass without Trace, etc.) With all of these, the minimum goes up to 38, meaning you'd have to roll a 19 on the dice to match But the rouge can also, at level 20, essentially "take 20" on any failed skill check, raising the minimum once per rest to a 37 without magic and a 48 with magic. So as long as you have some reliable way to cast some sort of skill enhancing or advantage granting magic (guidance, pass without Trace, invisibility, cloak of elvenkind) and have your Stroke of Luck, you can beat the passive check just barely.

@@coolroachbugs ...didn't he say the passive perception is 32? 27 is the minimum for a entirely focused rogue which means you need to roll a 15 to beat passive 32. And with a minimum of 38(not doing the math on this one but just using the number you gave) you don't need to roll at all because reliable makes it auto-succeed. Hell from how you were saying 19 on a min 38 that'd mean you thought his passive perception was....47? And your numbers on the 27 check with a need of rolling 20 would have been 37 for the passive check which is 10 lower then the one you said later. Like it's not easy to beat it by any means but I have no idea where the hell you are getting his passive and why its increasing as his foe becomes more skilled. Though if he can manage any additional bonuses to his wisdom he may well make it impossible to be snuck up on by unenhanced humanoids. The man is basically literally Sherlock Holmes at this point with his walk into a room 'How many clues to this mystery do I spot?' GM:"All of them, you noticed a barely perceptible foot print, the remains up a letter in the fireplace, that there's a secret door in the room that was wallpapered over, and the painting to your left looks like the eyes can be popped out for someone to look in. @@Sandman382 his passive perception is 37 not 32 10 (base) +17 (from the skill and expertise)+5 (observant) +5 (level 9 inquisitive) Advantage on a passive check is treated as plus 5, but Tulok didn't add this to the total, meaning that the calculation for the non magic rouge is right As for the magical rouge I'm assuming the stealth check is 10 base plus 18 modifier (+6 dex mod) plus 10 from pass without Trace = 38. Meaning it would auto succeed on a passive check I did these calcs in like 10 minutes without a calculator while I was getting ready for work today so I must've gotten tripped up somewhere, sorry for the confusion

Charisma is needed for the bard multiclass.

The ability to state a fact and the ability to convince people of a fact are two very different things.

@@reloadpsi One is simple and requires knowing the fact alone. The other requires somewhere between saying it aloud and 'act of god' dependent on who its said to, in some cases I think a nat 20 divine intervention would come back with god saying 'I'm only a miracle worker, that is impossible.'
