I'm Shawn Cheek, and I've been teaching piano for 30 years, the last 12 exclusively online. I have 2 websites, webpianoteacher.com and shawncheek.com. webpianoteacher.com is for learning to play by ear using the chord approach. shawncheek.com is for learning to read music notation and classical music. Combined, I have 5000 video lessons, a lifetime of music learning! If you'd like a huge discount on a Dual Membership Lifetime Package to both websites, send me an email to easypianolessons@yahoo.com. Enjoy your music! Shawn

You are absolutely the most underrated KZfaq Lesson channel in existence. I’ve followed you since high school and your videos really helped me out as I went into my professional music studies. You deserve way more sponsorship, subscribers, and views for your work. Please don’t ever stop teaching us.

Thank you for this, Shawn. Though this may be a slog to put in the time by this "play by ear" chap, I do appreciate your efforts . I'm usually anti-chat during videos, but your "chat" while "showing" this is more than welcome. No opportunity for yawning here. Great stuff, and thanks again.

I'm so glad I discovered Shawn's tutorials! I'm an old pro nightclub piano player. I've played lots of pop, jazz, blues, rock, show tunes and standards over the decades, all over the world, now in New Orleans. I was never a good sight reader of piano music--but read music well in general on other instruments I play. This method of "graphing" the tunes is just wonderful and the positive good-vibes explanation Shawn gives is unpretentious and just cool. I can't thank you enough!

Shawn Cheek Haha... only you can tell my friend! So many ppl workout the piano parts wrong, it’s refreshing to see a guy who pays attention to all the little nuances most ppl miss!!! I’m anal about piano parts lol if I’m not 98% right, I’d rather not play it. :) And maybe ppl don’t know these tricks... between live versions, and the fact that you can slow KZfaq videos down to 50 even 25% ... it’s so easy to hear every note these days (IMO) I always love what you do... Keep up the great work!!!

Why don’t you transcribe a version of Dr John playing Such a Nite solo piano? There are tons of his solo versions out there! Would be much more true to him musically if that’s what you’re going for.
