Did you know the mess around is just a 12-bar blues? While this song is indeed a challenge to learn and perform, Part 1 gets you half of the way there. Focus on learning the basic boogie bass line and the blues chords in the right hand before moving on to learning all the nitty gritty details in the rest of the sections. This song is especially technically demanding so make sure you're always practicing small chunks slowly and intentionally and ensuring that your hands are relaxed and comfortable. This can't be overstated! In any case, enjoy the lesson - this was one of the most challenging lessons I've ever recorded :)

I do have a theory about him and Stevie wonder. They generally play in the flat keys. It's probably easier to feel it out.

My brain breaks with the blues. Do you have tips for hand independence I can’t swing with my left and do anything basically with my right when I’m swinging lefty idk if that made sense but thanks love your stuff 🙏

You should put some albums of instrumental piano covers of these songs on ITunes, Spotify, etc. Some Elvis, some Ray Charles, Temptations, Etc Even some classic country songs.

Do we know if this is the official sheet music that ray charles used? There seems to be so many different versions now that I can never tell if it’s the right one?

Ray certainly didn't use sheet music ;) But you can be assured that we transcribed his piano-playing accurately to create this arrangement!
