How To Play Minesweeper (A somewhat in-depth guide)

3 жыл бұрынThis is a simple guide which visually and audibly explains how to play Minesweeper. For those who don't wish to watch, I will try my best to explain here as well.
To play Minesweeper you have to understand what the numbers mean and represent. When you click into the game you will often find a clear open area, and beside that cleared open area with numbers and than hidden areas right next to those numbers, the number indicates how many mines is nearby, so if you find a number 1 next to a grey area, that means that the tile the 1 is in, is touching a mine. In order to properly solve minesweeper, we have to use the numbers to find out how many mines they are touching, and by using that logic we than use previous flagged mines and free space to make skill based judgments on where the mines are. The game only becomes luck based once you are incapable of making another guess without accidently hitting a mine, in that point the game becomes a 50/50 chance and it is up to you to use everything else you have around you to make the best formed decision.
Hopefully the text example helps just as much, you can probably find better text explanations (and videos) on KZfaq, I just wanted to create this so my friends could learn and so I could test if I was really capable of making stuff like this. Anyway, enjoy.

At 4:52 the bottom position isn’t unsolvable as it is a 1-2 pattern and the mine is above the 2 and there is no mine below the 3 which is essentially a “1” because it already has 2 mines around it. The pattern works through the fact that if the 2 squares that are connected between the 1 and the 2 are both mines it would overload the 1 as it would have 2 mines around it and if neither of those squares were mines the 2 would not have enough mines around it as it could only have one mine around (it the square above it). That means 1 of the 2 squares in between the 2 and the 1 is a mine meaning the square below the 1 isn’t a mine as it already has one around it in those 2 squares and the square above the 2 is a mine since it wouldn’t have enough otherwise as only one of the 2 squares below it can be a mine. Out of all the minesweeper tutorial, your video was the only one I got to understand comprehensively. Not all heroes wear capes. I won't be bored in my work anymore!!

As much as I already knew how to play minesweeper, this is approved. 1. You explained numbers and empty spaces. 2. You explained the corner trick that happens in SO MANY GAMES 3. You actually completed the thing even after running into the infamous 50/50 Very approved, good nice

There was no 50/50, in a 50/50 you have no way to tell which tile is safe. On the last move the "2" on top of the top tile gave away the answer, as explained in the video

For some reason, the game acts different for me than you. It's more confusing in every single side, even easy mode 😢 Edit: After more than 30 mins of trying, I FINALLY GOT IT!

How to start the game. That's what most difficult for me. How do i know where to click first

Typically when you start the game a good practice is to click anywhere in the middle, this gives you the biggest chance of starting upon an open area for you to progress further with. As a quick note, your first click will never be on a mine so don't ever worry about that. Additionally, if you click somewhere and it doesn't give you an open area, feel free to click around until it does or you click a mine so you can restart and hopefully start in an open area. Hope this helps!

@@salvatoremutuale9751 well said, I did go back and try again and have a fairly good grasp of it now. The issue was because the game I was learning was LIKE minesweeper but not actually the exact same game

theres nothing in depth in here. this whole video only explains rules of the game with the most basic strategy in minesweeper and thats to find a tile where every tile it is touching is a mine. if number 1 is touching 1 free tile its a mine. at 1:51 the bottom 4 only sees 4 tiles so all of the tiles around it are mines. basically 6 minutes of this whole video is just saying this same thing with nothing new.

Video title: "How to Play Minesweeper (A somewhat in-depth guide)" I apologize if you expected anything more from a video about how to play a game with focus being put on explaining all of the different numbers present inside the game and what they represent and how to deal with them in a simple straightforward manner so the general public can understand and comprehend a game such as minesweeper which is mostly mis-understood or never properly learnt. However, if you so wish I would commend you to make a video which goes more in-depth onto the mechanics of minesweeper while also attempting to explain on a beginner level, how to play it without explaining the most "basic strategy in minesweeper" more than a couple times to bring across the point and make sure audience members have a full concept of the idea so they can play. Regardless, I do appreciate the feedback and I must mention that for future reference before you make a comment directly correlating to the topic of a video and not understanding why it is composed as such that you sit down and take the time to read the actual full title of said video beforehand as it generally saves time on your end and gives a full idea on what the concept of the video is going to be about.
