I was rereading The Lightning Thief and they brought up Pinochle. I've loved the whole Percy Jackson series since I was a kid but I realized, for all of the times I've reread that book, I've never know what Pinochle was. This helps explain a lot of my childhood confusion lol.

Listen to the bidding part, the meld part the game itself is like any other c game. Separate the meld from the bidding those two parts are added together to get your total points. You may want to play spades it is similar to pinochole.

Great video! I played this with my grandpa when I was a child but forgot the rules and am trying to relearn. Question: what would prevent someone from only bidding one dollar in order to avoid not making the bid?

Play this in the schoolyard growing up in the 50s when you got really good you could tell your partner what you had just by the cards you were playing it was really fun

The rules of this game seem a little intimidating, there are several variants of this game, and the unique card deck takes some getting used to. But once you've familiarized with these obstacles, great fun. A lot of it is knowing when to finally pass on the bidding part.

I'm not seeing where you're putting together your melds. Do you take all the won tricks at the end and form melds with them?
@rexlion4510
@rexlion4510 5 ай бұрын
The website calculated the melds automatically. In real life play with people, one would lay them down after announcing the trump suit and exchanging cards with partner (if that's done... we didn't usually do that in our family). They are laid out for all to see, counted, and the total is written on the score pad. I haven't played in 35 years and some people want me to teach them, so I am refreshing my memory!

You should have led off with the ace of clubs. That way if an opponent has only one trump in his hand, you've pulled it and he can't trump your other high cards. Of course in this instance the opponent had more than one. Also, I would have held back on the hearts. Hold till the end if possible. Draw out all trumps, then your 10 is guaranteed to be good. A great way to get the last trick, too.

I have been playing pinochle for over 50 yrs, and I would've passed differently, you should have kept that 10H and got rid of the loser 10D. That hand is an easy bid of 37 with my group!

You have to win the trick if you can and I'm not sure I like that. I think you don't have freedom for certain strategies in this game. But I'm just barely learning so I'll keep looking at different people's videos and reading and trying to figure it out and someone's gonna try to teach me in person. Yet I don't have the memory anymore to count cards and tricks so someone tried to teach me bridge and I decided to give that up because that would definitely take an investment of time and while I started out doing fairly well L it just seemed like a lot of work and wasn't so fun and would have been better if I learned when I was younger and I had parents who could have taught me because they played.

Why when Lisa played the Ace of clubs weren't you required to try to beat it? Clubs is Trump, but I thought you had to maintain the rules of the suit when the first person plays the Trump suit.
@kathyb7749
@kathyb7749 5 жыл бұрын
Brent Leedy you can’t beat the ace of trump, it’s the highest card.

Not sure I like that where you're forced to play trump if you can't follow suit. I watched a different video 1st and it didn't mention the 4 player it was a 2 player game and it didn't say anything about bidding and selecting trump so this seems like an entirely different game or that was just showing you some real basics but didn't let you understand how it was a part of a whole game and by looking at that video I thought the game was stupid but now that I look at bidding and taking tricks it isn't a stupid game and its more complex and there's actual strategy.

Very confusing. Should start out super basic. How many players, how many cards do you get, what's the point of the game? Get the most points, get the least points, get rid of all your cards, make sets? If you're teaching someone how to Monopoly, you don't go straight into how to mortgage hotels 🙄
