Don't know If you will respond to this but I'm on steam deck using emudeck to use pcsx2 to emulate the Japanese version of outbreak file 2 and when I hit set up connection there isn't anything there because I'm not connected to an other router with an ethernet is there a way to get past that?

@lucacapone2174 Based choice of device, portable outbreak sounds great. I would look at PCSX2's own settings - I'm pretty sure there's a page dedicated to your connection there; may have to tell it you're using WiFi. That's just off the top of my head though, could be wrong. Also worth checking out the OBSRV site, lots of info there.

Did you find it hard to install? It’s late here so maybe my brain isn’t working but I gave it a go and the ps2 bios rip sounded too complicated. I downloaded iso files okay, but struggling after that. Can I download bios files or do I have to get them from a ps2? I do have one but it’s not Japanese if that matters? 🙏

@@alexlawriee3764 it sounds complicated but it’s not. I just followed his guide and it worked. I do believe I had to download the Japanese version for it to work right. I unzipped it as well and followed his guide

It'd be great if they just released a version on current platforms, that works out of the box. Could get so many more players then. Sadly have to jump through some hoops instead.

I'm all for hard difficulties, but I wouldn't start this one on hard right off the bat 😂 It's great fun though. There'll be frustrating times, but it's really good.

You can play with people from different countries, but I don't think you can escape lag no matter how good your internet is. As for save states - I imagine it would let you, but I can't imagine it would work out well. They obviously can't freeze what other players are doing at that time, so I'm not sure it would work well.

As far as I know, the voice is actually the same in the Japanese version. Either that, or the patch does in fact change it. Either way, go for the Japanese version. You'll be fine. It's also needed to get online - other versions used different servers which haven't been recreated.

The American version went down before the Japanese version. So it kind of spooked people into working on it. You can't really convert it as such, but there is a way to translate it via patch detailed in this video. A couple of menus are still in Japanese, but it's generally workable.

I would check out the forums on the OBSRV site - lots of questions asked there, and lots of answers.

I think there's no "real" pcsx2 for android, and also iirc there's no emulator in Android that have "network system" yet (but do tell me if there are ps2 emulator that have it on Android). So you can't play it "online" in your android

Unfortunately I don't think you can. I wouldn't take my word as 100% proof though, as I don't even have an android device powerful enough for this stuff. But as far as I can tell, the emulators on android don't support online play yet.

Look into using the alternative DNS address. They should have more about it on the OBSRV site. Usually solves these errors.

There is a way of loading it onto a virtual HDD on PCSX2, and that's supposed to improve loading times. I didn't do it though, so couldn't really say how. They do have a lot of guides and help on the outbreak site: obsrv.org/

You could download one, but for legal reasons I can't say you should.

I don't think you can mix bots with online players unfortunately. That said, it might be something you unlock - I can't say for 100% sure. Also, you don't need a full lobby. You can start with just 2, although it'll be quite hard.

Probably not what you want to hear, but your best bet is getting a more up to date PCSX2. They're constantly updating it and fixing stuff. Other than that, I'd check out the OBSRV site and it's forums - they've got all sorts of questions being answered there.

Off the top of my head, I can't remember for sure. I would check out the OBSRV site for more info on that - PS2 is a more complicated setup, so I really focused on PCSX2 here. The BIOS file - that would be illegal and bad, sadly. I guess some kind of Internet Archive, but I could never point someone to such a place.

Apparently the current DNS address is not compatible with my PCSX2 so I had to put in the alternatives they gave and it finally worked! Thank you, Heli for this guide and everything. ^_^

There's a million different error messages that might pop up for various reasons. I wish I could be more help, but the best I can do is point you to the OBSRV forum. They've had more experience dealing with most issues that exist.

I think it would be complicated, and might need a really beefy PC. But it might be possible. I'll see if I can ask some more tech-minded friends of mine. Stuff like that is why a remaster would be pretty nice.

I think you might be able to. Have 2 separate installations of pcsx2. Each installation will need a unique memory card -> Both will need to have the net settings installed on them and have the DNS settings applied. You may need 2 controllers -> hopefully the emulators are clever enough to see them as separate and distinct. On installation 1 -> set it to use memcard 1 and controller 1 as the primary controller. On installation 2 -> set it to use memcard 2 and controller 2 as the primary controller. Point both installations to the ISO -> You will only need one copy of the game ISO. Then all there's left to do is to start up each unique emulator, and you're off to the races. I'm not sure this will 100% work, but you could experiment.

I don't know that one off the top of my head, but I'll look into it and get back to you here if I find anything.

I know there's a Mac version of PCSX2, so that side should be fine. The only thing I'm not sure on is the patch software to translate the games - but I could be wrong on that, and there's probably alternatives even if it is the case. I'll ask around about patching it. But the majority should be fine.

@@eliasb22 Same here! I missed out on it back then - didn't even have proper internet. But emulation is great for this kind of thing. I'll be doing playthroughs of lots of games I missed, or ones I couldn't beat at the time.

I don't remember for 100% sure, but I think you did need one yes. Still worth going for if you've always wanted to play the game. There's plenty of these files around.

Not off the top of my head I'm afraid. I would check out the OBSRV site. They've got pages on how to do everything, not to mention forums you can search - just about any problem anyone's ever had will be there.

I'll assume you've gone through the other steps, got everything set up on the site itself etc. So, hmmm. That screen is just after the DNAS check. I'd guess it's something to do with that. Tbh it's probably something very technical, some kind of setting with your router or something like that. I'm sorry I'm not more help. I'll ask around a bit and let you know here if I find anything. In the meantime, they've got a bunch of troubleshooting pages on the OBSR site itself.

@ProjectHelisexuality yea I asked on there already as well. I didn't set everything up like you did. I got a rom with the English installed already, and I also didn't mess with any network settings since I'm using the Xbox version of pcsx2, so it may have to do with that but not sure. I was really hoping to play online lol

The pre-patched version should probably be fine, although I would look back through the rest of it, see if there's any settings listed in the video that need changing.

@@G37u73 ​One thing you could try is this. On the screen at 19:52 - choose manual instead of auto. Then put in the address shown at 15:32. I can't guarantee that will work or is even correct info, but it's worth a go.

That should work, yes. The settings for putting in the DNS Address might be a bit different though, and if AetherSX2 doesn't have them - you might have to put them in on the game itself. That said, the overall setup shouldn't be too different. Only problem is that stuff like patching the games to translate them can only be done on PC, as far as I know. I would have done a segment for AetherSX2, but my Android device isn't really powerful enough. Let me know if you run into any issues, and I might be able to work them out from my end anyway.

Aethersx2 doesn't support network play on android. You might be able to play the single player part, though. You won't need to do all the additional setup steps.

On the same internet is a little outside of my range of knowledge I'm afraid. I hope it works out though - mixing online with people in the same space, I love the sound of that.

The American version originally went down first. So there was a bit more time for people to work with the Japanese version. Capcom themselves really should re-release the game, make it easier to access for everyone.
