Hi Everybody - I am very happy to be including this video in Patreon - it was done a few years ago before I had a Patreon page and I've begun moving these 'Legacy' videos over so that patrons can access them as well as the song sheets. My best to you and please let me know what you think!
By request! An essential campfire classic with beautiful guitar parts and incredible vocal harmonies. Learn the chords and embellishments as well as a super lead idea in the intro. I was at a beautiful lake when I shot this video - an inspiring location for sure!

This is one of the best step-by-step walk-through guitar lesson videos I've ever seen. Thank you Shane for taking the time to break each of the three notes down as well as the walk down to the C and that crazy all-over-the-fretboard' stuff on G. I've been practicing this all week in this crazy Covid lockdown and getting faster and better, with great thanks to you. You are the very definition of a great instructor. Thank you!

Learned this on my own back in college in 1996. For some weird reason we played it in E instead of D and a visiting guitarist pointed that out lol. But even after playing it so long I’ve never managed to get those crazy runs right. Maybe having watched this…! Great stuff…

That cross run in between C and G is a freaking beast at the proper tempo. You killed it. I always put my own half azz run in there, now I can at leat attempt to do it right. Thanks.

Well seems like I'm giving out a little comment. Not the type of guy who comments under KZfaq videos, but Shane you really hit the mark with this one. For me one of the all time great songs, the vocal harmony is unreached till this very day and this song just always gives you a warm feeling. I play bass... maybe play guitar for 5-10 minutes a year after finger picking for about 30 years... one of my bands told me they were doing this one and wanted me to play the guitar part because they couldn't sing and play it at the same time.... THANK YOU SHANE FOR THIS VIDEO!!!.. I'm happy to say that I can fake my way through it now... (as long as we turn it into a slow ballad). In a week or two... I'll be up to 3/4 speed. Between this video, and a couple others... I may actually convince people that I can play the extra 2 strings.
