Thank you for uploading , my 11 yr old just got his first guitar, a fender, strat and he loved your lesson he was playing it after the first time around.. so ty, its the first thing hes really shown an interest in.. hes been practicing about 10 minutes at a time as Joe Satriani suggested in one of his interviews on here.. im grateful for that uploader as well or i would have had him practicing for an hour straight then i might have squashed any interest!1 so he now does these increments a couple times a day. I just let him play around with his new baby for awhile , wen he came and told me he wanted to learn smoke on the water, why this song ill never know,but instead of running out and checking out instructors, i found and online one you! he can pause rewind its great, i hope you have a whole series..

i literally have never played a song on guitar before, and this video helped me. I have always played the flute and I am a professional photographer so learning guitar is a whole new world for me. I don't care what anyone else says thank you Marty. I hope people stop complaining about the fact you're promoting where you got your guitar and start caring about the music. I work at Sam Ash Music thats where I received my guitar. It doesn't matter where you bought the guitar it matters how you play it and what you do with it. The same as photography its not the camera its the photographer. Remember that before you complain on where marty bought the guitar. Thank you again marty!

+MVT360 The way you play it is the way it's supposed to be played. If you watch the Classic Albums DVD of the Deep Purple album, Richie Blackmore demonstrates how a lot of guitar players (and teachers) get it wrong and plays the riff the way you play it.

@WarriorofSunlight8 жыл бұрын
I'm a beginner and having the same problem, try to "lock" your fingers into that position. Seems to help me. It's all in moving the whole hand, not the fingers.

+Jade Warner do iteveryday im a begginer too . Worked for me anyway
@Drgordan12318 жыл бұрын
+jose angel To learn powerchords really well, start off by just putting your fingers in powerchord formation anywhere on the neck, any fret, Now slide them as if you were actually playing and keep doing that until you can get into the highest frets without losing your powerchord-position, After this, do the same thing but this time. strum it, and make sure each one sounds good before you slide again, Do this routine at least for 15 mins aday. I did it for 30 mins a day and got powerchords down in no time, literally took 4 days and I was able to implement powerchords to all my favorite bass lines, :)
@surrealparadox3958 жыл бұрын
+jose angel I used to be unable to play power chords but now they are just so fucking sick and easy to play. When you get to barre chords you will see power chords as the easiest thing to play.

Jan Doedel so true so true
@djroxanne442910 жыл бұрын
Jan Doedel if you took some time rto learn the basics, imo, and its why i got my kiddo into it as well, music is something that will always be an outlet for you and also would allow you to always make a group of friends in a community thats really supportive of each other..If I knew you and i dont but, if i did my wish would be for you to try six months a few minutes a couple times a day, and then see.. i got h=my sins guitar at guitar center for 49 dollars, the amp also fender for 39, they were on a "police hold" no idea what that's abut but if you have GC's where you live you should ask, because lets say what you tihnk ends up happening does i got both for under 100 bucks , im not going to be that angry, for that little amount and of course he didt need to have an amp, so you could get one for 50 bucks, guitar that is , that they told me after i bought it, goes for around 200 bucks...
@denniscassiers77210 жыл бұрын
pitbikeboy98 i thought the exact same thing. I got a secondhand electric guitar for my birthday and just never knew where to start. I searched youtube and found a thing called 'one string songs'. I think this is the best way to start. Next, you just search songs you want to learn (Now don't start with ACDC's 'thunderstruck') and add 'very easy guitar tutorial' or stuff like that. I still suck at playing my guitar but now, I play it a lot and enjoy it because I know how to play a couple of songs I love. If you're a fan of Green Day, you should search Marty Schwartz's 'Brain Stew' tutorial. It's ridiculously easy to learn but you can go completely nuts and even sing along!
@CH-rs7cm10 жыл бұрын
It does require discipline (and a good teacher). My advise: just pace yourself. Set aside a specific time of day for practice and do it every day, even if it's just for ten minutes. My guitar teacher told me that you cannot force it; it will come to you as the years progress.
