it used too. they removed it a while back. you used to be able to select witch games updated and which didnt. many of us kept games like skyrim and fallout from auto-updating because updates usually break mods, and would update it when the mod updated

Thank you so very much. I have seen similar descriptions of this process, but yours was the only one that showed opening the game from a directory and choosing offline mode. Some other stuff I did: I deleted the contents (after backing them up) of the ...Steam/steamapps/downloading folder AND I had changed StateFlags to 4 and UpdateResult to 0. I've seen guides suggest one, the other, or both. However, when I followed those guides and opened the steam launcher, it would NOT allow me to run the game, instead it replaced that button with an update button. WHAT A CONCEPT TO ACTUALLY BE ABLE TO USE WHAT'S YOURS AS YOU WANT! Thanks again!

Note:reason why it doesn't work because the game hasn't installed yet but if it's finally installed then it might work to do this make sure to go steam download stats find which country is faster and if you find it switch the download region to what country is faster for you and then you done it.

Tipp: You dont need to use the Website. Just Open the Manifest File and read the File. It should show by itself which Games is it.

Using this method to get around Fallout 4's latest update, which of course breaks Fallout 4 Script Extender, which means I can't use any mods that rely on that until F4SE updates. Sorry Steam, I'll update next week when F4SE is hopefully updated for the 80th time.

thank you so much. i hate that they won't let me play the games i purchased, that are solo games on my pc, no co-op or multiplayer or anything, without updating. updates for games like that should ALWAYS be optional. i bought the game! updates always break something! creators need to learn to leave games alone, some people like them the original way, they don't want anything to change.

It saddens me that we stray away so far from turning on a console and just fucking play. Even consoles have this issue now. Now as an adult my play time is severy limited to a fraction of an hour, and having to wait like 20 minutes (or more) of update is a real bummer It might be nothing serious but I really hate this

I went to do this, my game's file already has a value of '4'. When I start the game in offline mode, it start's up for about 5 seconds then goes off. It's a pain because my game has loads of mod's which don't work every time the game developer's release a new data pack (which happens every 2 months).

For some reason the 'stateflag' keeps changing to 6 when I try to launch the game from the directory when Steam is exited like in the video. Instead of being given the option to enter steam in offline mode I'm prompted to log in and things continue as normal with the game attempting to update.

oH my god, thank you so much. I absolutely needed this. ARK is famous for it's frequent and large updates, and here I'm usually stuck trying to update at like 50 or less kbs, so I can't even see the update size most of the time. :/ Very useful, thanks again.

Simple. 1. Go to Steam 2. Go to your game, right-click it then click Properties 3. Go to Local Files then Browse Local Files 4. The game should be there. Open it from there, it will play without Steam. No problem

I tried this with Prison Architect. It didn't work when I started the game from the steam folders but I went back onto steam (still offlinemode) and it let me play it from there. It simply cancels the pending update.

hey techtac have a question I just got fallout 4 and have downloaded steam and it is updating, I haven't played the game yet, it is taking forever I've seen some videos where you can pretty ignore steams updates but this is the initial update so will that work? also I would like to download the Nexus mods and will I be able to do that without steam?

Does this work offline with shared games? I've been playing fallout 4 through sharing as a "family member." And when I'm offline I don't see the Steam ID number listed. Thanks!
