Totally underrated song, I always thought it was a George song because of, Here Comes the Sun. This melody with the astonishing vocal harmonies is amazing. If you want to know how it feels being completely stoned, this is how it feels. Your a natural teacher, thank you.

Written by John Lennon, and Lennon actually plays the pattern using Travis finger picking technique (similar to "Dear Prudence", and "Julia"), while Harrison plays the low opening riff and then the high soloing. The song was loosely influenced by Fleetwood Mac's "albatross" (the Peter Green guitar sound). Incidentally, I think George Harrison borrowed (or stole) part of John's chord progression sequence and melody here (right before the Spanish sounding lyrics) to later shape his own song "Something". C Cmaj7 C7 F Here comes the Suuhun...uunnnn.....King C Cmaj7 C7 F Something in the way she moves attracts me like no other lover .

When I heard this song first time, it was almost spiritual experience. That's the magic of real music, it returns you to present moment where everything is happening 🙂 Anyway, my sincere thanks Howard for making the effort to do this lesson.

My 6 strings accoustic is in the hospital for few months (because I broke a mechanic and it s very long time to have this kind of mechanics from Germany😉 even I'm living in Switzerland) so I play on my 12strings accoustic and it s no differences... maybe it is for simplify the game, but it s ok like this😉👍 Thank you for your video, I made a big break of 13 years playing the guitar and I begin for 6 months... my ears often are wrong when I heard a song and want to play her... for example I before played C CM7 C7 F (like "Something") and you played right with C CM7 Fm7 and Am7😉 so that is why it's better for me to see well done video... thank you very much and have a nice day and you made mine🤗☀️🌈

I just listened to Lennon's guitar on an isolated track. He took an open E6 chord and moved it up to the 6th fret with the 1st and 6th strings open. He finger picked it with the same pattern he used on Dear Prudence. The variation of the Travis pattern that Donovan showed him.

I pretty much would do the same thing with Sun King....very close. I'd insert the bass parts for color. Your ring finger, starting it off is a good idea. I've done it a couple ways, but I knew it was a slide and not a hammer on. I also like how u add the A extension there. For awhile there i was wondering if Harrison was playing that lick while Lennon picked the F#m7 thing. When I get off work tonight I'm going to do it your way, with that little lick right at the end. I would do something like that but add those 2 or 3 bass notes before they say sing "Ahhhhhhhh".

Thanks for the lesson. I just saw a clip on KZfaq where Mick Fleetwood heard John or George say (in 1969) this song was inspired by the Albatross. That F#m7 chord is hard hitting the b string at the 5th. My favourite part of the song too

Hey man I had once known how to play most of Abbey Road and I love how you added in bass lines and methods to tie it all together. I did the same thing. This and part 2 really helped me get this song back. I do have one comment. Those F#M/F#M7 arpeggios are so hard, why not play them with an A/A6 chord formation? Anyways once I realized my old A/A6 arpeggio for that part sounds the same I got the rest down and sounds really good, thank you.
@247GuitarwithHowardHart
@247GuitarwithHowardHart 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks... I'm glad it was helpful. Either way on the chord arpeggios works great - It's an arrangement for 1 guitar, plus a few of Paul's bass notes, so I like to include the F# in there for the fullness it creates... plus it sounds kinda cool coming off of those bass fills :-) Their arrangements were always so good!

@@247GuitarwithHowardHart Howard, I join the chorus in appreciation of such a great, tasty, and faithful rendition of this JL/Beatles classic. I'm 66 and have played classical guitar my whole life. However, I also love classic rock and roll. I picked up the electric about a year ago to learn how to play all these great Beatle classics. At this stage in life, it is very hard to put a band together! (Everybody is either dead, creaky or too cranky.) Any chance, that you will post the backing track to your version of the Sun King relatively soon? It is the only clean one out there. Happy to pay for it. If not, no problem. I still love your stuff.

@@247GuitarwithHowardHart Thank you. Not trying to be critical....but I think the instruction + the tab in the lower screen is brilliant. It is by far the most effective teaching stye for me. That you combine guitar parts is so rare and needed. It is agonizing for a somewhat advanced player to have to listen through all the first finger, first fret, first string etc..
