RULES:
The object of the game is to be the first player to get all 10 of your dice to show the same number. Give each player a set of 10 dice, which they hold in their hands. One player says go then all the players race to roll their dice simultaneously. You are allowed to pick up and reroll any number of your dice, any number of times. You don’t have to wait for the other players to roll, and you don’t even have to wait for a die to stop moving before you pick it up to roll it. But, if you accidentally pick up an unintended die or knock over a die to a different number, then you must re-roll it, even if you wanted to keep that number. Keep rolling as fast as you can until one player has all 10 dice of the same number, then they yell “Tenzi” and win!

That’s kind of how it was invented actually. The two designers had a bag of components and tasked each to come up with a game to discuss the next time they met. And they were surprise hits at trade shows.

I was expecting a game based on Bogosort, a sorting algorithm that shuffles a list randomly and checks if it's in order until it is, so I thought the players would need to roll ALL dice every time until they get all to show the same number. Glad to see they're at least somewhat lenient.

There’s about a 6/(6^10) = 1/10,077,696 chance to roll the same number on all 10 dice, and a 1/(6^10) = 1/60,466,176 chance to get a specific number on all 10 dice.

if you went to a comic book store that sells Magic the gathering items, you can get two dice containers that have 20 dice D-6 in them each, the dice are normally used for +1/+1 Counters, but are handy if you need a lot of dice.

We play this every now and then and for extra "Tenzi-on" (sorry!) and amusement, also call out "Uno" when only having one remaining. Good little game to mix it up as anyone can win.
