Do you need to have a special skill to play a rain stick?
@loganrusso39 Жыл бұрын
@@MrMECHGaming1 Yes, absolutely... Not just anyone can play a rainstick like a pro. First, you have to have opposable thumbs... then, you have to have enough strength in your arms to lift an object of appropriately 1-2 pounds in weight... lastly, you have to have the dexterity to be able to invert the stick while still being able to hold onto it... If you possess these special skills, you too may just be able to play a rainstick like a pro... but there's only one way to be sure!

@@loganrusso39 That's not true at all. Playing a Rain stick is a piece of Cake 🍰.
@MrMECHGaming1 Жыл бұрын
@@loganrusso39 you don't need training for such things and 1-2 pounds is not that heavy.

If you really wanna play it nicely, you spin it between your palms as it's going one direction, shake it at the same time (shoulders mainly), and then move your body back and forth to get a horizontal "whoosh-a" sound to it. Be aware where the majority of the beads/beans are, and try to group them up and separate them in different sections to get different percussive elements out of it. Rattling percussive instruments have a ridiculously high skill cap. You can play the normal traditional uses of them, or you can REALLY have some fun and break the physical being of it down and figure out how to get some insanely complicated ear-twisting results out of them. Shit, even maracas can be impressive if in the hands of someone who's good on the snare drum and has a good grasp of their place in space lol

Thank you for taking it seriously. I'm glad some people still have respect for all instruments. Thanks for the tips!

My dream is actually to have lots of percussion, join sessions and studios to play them and make funny sounds, Percussion is actually so much fun. I remember going to a concert in Russia, Crocus City Mall, "The Straits" concert (little Dire Straits tribute, with Terence Reis as Frontman, great guitarist) and seeing Chris White (Saxophonist who played with Dire Straits in Tours) playing Saxophone on some songs and actually switching to multiple different percussions mid songs, Live, to create the most beautiful sounds. That's when i knew, hell yeah i wanna know how to play percussion properly

Denise You wan to know how long it takes? So today was Good Friday and there was a church service at my church. But the service was led by the youth. So basically they went up to the front to say stuff and they had practiced what they were going to say(The youth is a group of kids 6th - 12th grade) and I’m part of the youth. I hadn’t gone to practice last week but I showed up today anyways to support them because it’s all my friends I walk in and the youth directer, Katelyn said “Could you do me a favor?” And I was like umm sure I guess? Mind you I am literally so shy and didn’t want to go in the front of the church in front of everyone. Anyways Katelyn pulls out this stick of wood and looks and me and she’s like this is a rain stick. Could you begin the service by going up to the front and turning it slowly three times. *SLOWLY* *S L O W L Y* three times. Three damn times. I’m literally so shy but I was like oh ok I’ll do that. She handed me the stick and she’s like your going to start the service. I had no time to practice. I literally never had heard of that instrument in my life. It’s really cool though. She gave me no instructions on how to play it except for turning it. I ended up doing fine I guess thank god two of my friends were in the back facing me and making funny faces to make me feel better. The rain stick really doesn’t require much but then again I probably didn’t do it very well😂
