As a foreigner living in Tokyo, I felt like I need to use this time here on learning as much as possible about Japanese culture and lifestyle and what better way to learn about Japan than through taking classes on traditional music instruments?! With the kind guidance of my sensei I have been learning about Koto and Tsugaru Shamisen for about 5 months now. Japanese traditional music has always been of interest to me so I am glad that I can pursue my dreams here in Tokyo. It is definitely not an easy journey, as both Koto and Tsugaru Shamisen are considerably difficult and so so different from the musical instruments that I used to play back in Europe. I am motivated to keep on learning as much as possible and to keep on improving. As of now, my skills are a bit above zero, but I am still proud of what I accomplished since I started with them.
