Low stakes: - Play tight vs all newcomers - Bluff all nits on super connected boards - Usually top pair is very valuable in low stakes because people bluff a lot, but be mindful of the good players who know how to sniff out top pair and put you in bad spots - If someone covers you by 5x and goes all in, they are trying to scare you out of the pot most the time and have like middle pair This is something ive been going by but let me know if im a fish lol

1 and 2 are pretty good, 3 I don't know. The main problem with 2 is when the nit has the nuts. So don't bluff your stack off because you think a nit is going to fold the nuts.

hello folks, i'd like to share a tip as well for low stakes. if you get check raised or jammed on at the river in low stakes.. about 80% of the time they have a strong hand. keep this in mind and keep mental notes to when this happens. you'll notice it if you pay attention. even if you're not in the hand, showdown.

I put villain on either A♤Q♤ or A♤10♤ for a combo draw with an over card. Jam puts max pressure on all other draws and 1 pair hands.

Excellent video! All of this is very true. I will say that I think some of these facts are different regionally depending on where you play. Texas is notorious for looser players that hate folding any pair at all (at low stakes anyway). I played a bunch in Mississippi, and I was able to get a lot more bluffs through there than I am here in Texas. Also, I don't quite agree with the often showing bluffs in big pots thing. I often find that it's quite the opposite. Next, I don't think it was mentioned in the video, but if you fold to someone who is a bit chatty and friendly, if you really want to know what they have, just ask and tell them what you had. They will tell you 80% of the time what they had at low stakes. Yes, sometimes they may lie, but in my experience it's rare. As long as you play a good strong GTO range, you shouldn't be too concerned about giving away too much information about your own play because you are, theoretically, relatively balanced. Lastly, and I cannot emphasize this enough, you _must must must_ learn how to make folds that in any other context would be very nitty. For example, if you are playing $1/2 against a straightforward player (i.e. they bet when they have it, fold/check when they don't) who has been raising to $12-15 normally, but suddenly decides to open to $25 or even $30 out of the blue, guess what? They have aces, kings, or less likely, queens. That's their range. Depending on their stack size, if I have a smaller pocket pair, I love a call because if I hit a set, there is a nearly 100% chance I will get their entire stack since small stakes players overplay overpairs (this is what Wolfgang was talking about with implied odds), but if I miss my set, JUST FOLD. Even if you have TT and the flop comes 249. If they lead out for a big price again, I guarantee you you are beat. Don't burn your money, and just fold.

telling people to fold to one bet with an overpair is too exploitative. you should only do that against the most straightforward, terrible players of all time. i've played all over the country in 1/2 and bad players will overplay AK and AQ all the time trying to act like they have aces... they will also give up after you call flop

@@mitsevox Yes, this is why I specifically said against "straightforward players." That said, not sure where you're playing, but 99 times out of 100, when someone has been limp/calling, or raising small all night, then suddenly goes wild and open raises 10-12x, they have QQ+, and extremely rarely AKs. That is the definition of a straightforward player. And guess what, if you get bluffed off your tens 1 out of 100 times by AQ or AK or whatever, you still made the right play that will pay off in the long run. Who cares if you lose one time? Don't be results-oriented.

At the 15-minute mark where villain didn't show his hand: He could have 22 or 77 -- those hands might raise pre-flop and would definitely go all-in on the turn. Less likely: He had K2 of diamonds or hearts. Another possible hand: KJ, and he wants to charge flush draws. All of your other guesses make perfect sense, too (like AA).

I love this video. Showing that even making the correct play will not always result in winning money, it's nice to show a balanced poker session that's profitable where other people may have lost money. I think I have triple barreled on boards that favor my preflop range trying to get my opponents off top pair and lost my whole stack because of it too many times, so this video was a great perspective. Love it!

20:05 checking is horrible in a 4 way hand, as a smaller set is also going to check through with the same logic. You can easily bet small, $90, to make it enticing for people with ANY piece to call and those with AT or AQ to call. Sure they may all fold (to $90 would be odd tho), but a 8 on the turn for example makes 9T the winner and you're never getting away. Another GOOD reason to bet flop is to build the pot.

I agree, make a very small bet into the field. You are putting 1 in to win 4 ( possibly less), and it makes the pot big very quickly. Depending on the table, you can probably induce a raise from other players in the pot as well. On that turn specifically, you will likely have to rip it in, because your hand is the nuts but super fragile. The turn being mostly a blank other than the spade draw coming in.

@@mitsevox sets will probably call and check raise or check jam turn. We are looking to keep back door stuff in and fold them out turn to our turn jam. Especially on the brick whatever of spades. Just trying to get some extra money in the pot and then try to get someone to call turn with a worse hand, which is all of them on the turn, some of those hands have decent equity though.

The only thing I didn’t agree with is the 4 bet with AJo. 15:23 Certainly there are times where what your saying is true, but if we consider the following, I’d say this particular time was probably not the one to do it with: 1. At this level in live poker, 3! Are generally much stronger. So 3!/fold range is pretty small. 2. Even if his 3! Range is balanced out with suited connectors and suited A5 types, this guy is in the SB and would be much tighter and have fewer bluffs. Keep up the videos dude! Cheers!

12:12 this is poor logic. The other thing you fail to point out about small stakes: they are NOT going to interpret your $325 bet as a missed heart draw, simply a big bet. They don't put that level of analysis into anything

Never check a set or flopped straight vs 3 or more players. You will get at least 1 call 90% of the time. You should have bet $85 after flopping set of JJs. Other pocket pairs, straight draws like 98s , and possibly 2 over cards will likely call an $85 bet on flop. You lost value there with top set.

he targeted those same hands on the turn, no one had anything. if his hand is only worth one street of value against the hands you just mentioned, he might as do it on turn instead of flop. you're using bad results oriented logic and you're incredibly unbalanced if you only bet flop there with two pair or better

@@mitsevox draws are more likely to call flop bets as well as pairs. If you miss turn, there's a chance you get to see river for free since most c-betters check turn with weak/moderate hands. So your best chance to get a call is on flop particularly against a good player that cbets their entire range. Not only that, but an $85 bet on flop is GREAT pot odds. $285 on turn, which is over half pot, not great odds especially when turn is a 2. My logic is absolutely sound to any decent experienced player. You should worry less about "balance" in a 4 way pot against ppl you will probably never play against again, and make value bets instead of wasting opportunities.

Another thing I forgot to add is betting flop also allows you to build the pot for a river all in vs. 66, 77, and 76s. Several logical reasons to bet flop there against 3 opponents.

if you truly think he's not profitable in these soft games: 1. you don't actually know anything about poker and are just projecting your own mediocre play 2. he just did a two week bankroll challenge at 1/2 up to 5/10 and won over $5000. did the same one in 2022 as well and didn't book a single losing session then either 3. you clearly make big, uninformed assumptions which means you can't have good poker skills 😂

Im sorry this was a pretty bad lessons for low stakes, no one gives af about peoples ranges, blockers dont matter as much and people who play 1-2 usually dont bet unless they are really strong or have the nuts, and most people on 1-2 are too much of MEOWS to bluff, thats why u can play tight asf and always be paid off
