When I first got Cleo, I was so tired the first week! She would wake me up in the middle of the night because she wanted to play! I soon learned the importance of playing with our cats specially before bedtime! I play with Cleo definitely twice a day, sometimes more. I usually do it before and after her meals. Her favourite toys at the moment are the feather wand and the shoelace. Shoelace early morning, while I'm still in bed. She gets electric and enjoys hopping around the bed. 🙂 The feather wand is warm up for lunch and dinner. When she catches it, she bites it and brings it to her feeding station. Voilà! Dinner is served! Sometimes she likes to chase it, other times she likes to play hide and seek with it. And yes, the quality of the toys is important. I had a couple of cheap colored feathered toys, and to my surprise, the feathers were gone when I came home. Where did they go??? Cleo's tummy??? 😂 I also provide her with a multi-level food puzzle toy. It took her a while to become interested in it, but she now enjoys whacking the kibbles. There's still 1 level she hasn't quite mastered yet! I haven't begun the play fetch yet... Still thinking how to teach her. She's recently learned how to jump (on request) ! 🙂

OMG, that shot where they are both side by side doing their butt wiggle before a pounce was friggin adorable! You should probably want to include that Ragdolls have a high energy puppy play style. Not all cats play fetch and for some reason Ragdoll take to fetch like a duck to water. But anyways. Hey Cat Butler! The time is finally here. After a little over a month I get to bring home my new male Ragdoll tomorrow!! A Blue Bi Color whose background is literally littered with champions and the breeder said if she didn’t already have 6 breeding males she would of saved him for a breeder. The same thing my other Breeder said about Skarlytt. From that little Ragdoll breeding circuit of amazing women here in Florida lovingly referred to as the Central Florida Ragdoll Mafia lol.. Right now they are all in Clearwater showing their cats at a cat show. They live for breeding gorgeous cats by strictly adhering to breed standards and focusing on traits that are loved by judges at cat shows. But tomorrow morning I get to drive to central FL to pick him up! I’m so excited! I hope Skarlytt finally gets a buddy to play with. Any advice on how to introduce them? Anyway, I named the lil guy Stryker, although i think i made the same mistake my parents did by naming my twin brother and I with similar names that start with the letter J. My two are named Stryker and Skarlytt so I’m sure I’m going to jumble up their names in a pinch like my folks do that sounds like a cross between both names at once lol.. But it feels like Christmas Eve lol. I think once he’s here I’m gunna do some videos for a few of my friends and you’ll be able to see them! Yay!

Congratulations on your new cat! In terms of introducing them first separate in different rooms then have one be in the carrier and let them sniff each other. If everything is good you can let them physically meet!

My baby Ragdoll does this thing where when she catches her prey she takes it behind the couch. One time we wanted to see how many times she’d do this and at one point she had like 15 or 20 wands and cat toys behind the couch in a little horde she was making. When she finally catches her prey she holds it up high with this ultra satisfied look on her face. I don’t think she’s realized that the toy is attached to a wand that I am directing cause sometimes she looks so surprised that once she’s hid her prey, it comes back alive lol.

My old cat, Figaro, never played with any of his toys, even as a kitten. It could've been because he was a Persian cat, since my new ragdoll kitten, Julio, plays with everything.

Thanks for the kind words! Yeah I try to go into depth as much as possible, and show rather than tell, which can be hard to film with cats haha. I actually started the channel because as a cat owner I had a hard time finding good resources on learning how to take my cat, so I figured I create this channel to help other cat owners.

Wow, thank you so so much for this video. I have such a frustrating time trying to play with my adult cats that I've just about given up, which is not good for the cats. This has given me a whole lot of inspiration and understanding of how I can get my cat interested again, can't wait to try these out. Love your work!

Thanks. This was awesome. It is hard to get Skittles off the bed. (HER bed, lol!) She has a toy box that she tends to attack during the night. But in the heat, she just wants to sleep.

I have an older(17 yrs ) cat we had a dog who was her playmate but he lived a good life and died. I would like her to have a playmate sometimes but she hates other cats and I do mean hates growling hissing smacking chasing we play with her sometimes but that's it

Great video, thanks! Please tell what kind of plants you have. I am fostering kittens, but feel a bit sad I might have to give away my house plants, because they are said to be toxic to cats.

I have calathea mostly, a spider plant, fittonia, basil, and a palm tree. You could put keep the mildly toxic plants and remove the highly toxic ones. And have the mildy toxic plants in another room and high up where your cats can’t reach. Hope that helps!

I was angry when I bought a, "toy," at the dollar tree. It was a toy that was round, with a ball inside. One night, at 12:30am, my table crashed to the floor, and Skit was in panic mode. That toy was around her neck! I had to keep as calm as I could, and remove the toy from her neck. I never bought cheap toys after that. I emailed dollar tree, and complained. My worst nightmare is losing my baby girl. 👶

It's so funny to me that my roommate and I try this shit with our cats and they don't go for it, but their favorite toys are white hair ties and used q-tips (yes, the color and usedness are important factors, unfortunately).

oh wow interesting. Yeah my cats are like that too. They like playing with paper towels or stealing my straws haha, but it seems when I put in all that effort they seemed to respond well. sometimes it takes a while.

I really hope Teemo and Arya aren't declawed...Declawing of cats is barbaric animal abuse, firstly. Ex-Governor Cuomo signed into law no declawing of cats in New York state. And most of Europe has outlawed declawing (except in extremely rare cases) and it's going that way in the United States. We don't even clip Willy's claws and he knows not to have them out when he taps us or plays a little bit with our hand or other parts of us. We've gently trained him. Once in awhile he might get a little bit rambunctious and carried away but basically he's very good about this. He's an indoor cat but if something ever happened and he got out, I want him to be able to defend himself as optimally as possible or climb up a tree or something, if he has to. When I first brought home a very tall square scratching post, Willy went right for it and he loves it. He never scratches any of the furniture. Once in awhile the carpeting, but it's okay. We wear our carpeting out more walking on it than him scratching it.

@@TheCatButler I thought not. Well, what I saw, I guess sometimes they seem to not very visibly extend their claws when playing. I wasn't trying to offend you or anything and I'm sorry if I did. My close friend and his wife finally had their cat declawed because they didn't want to put in the time to train her. Which doesn't take that much, really. She was clawing up the furniture a little bit. But a little bit was too much for them and their furniture. Thanks for your helpful information Cat Butler. 😺✌️

Oh I’m not offended at all. It’s hard to see their miniature claws on camera :). Trust me they are there. Sometimes when they get too excited I get scratch marks on my skin
