IMPORTANT: You can only Pendulum Summon Once Per Turn during either your Main Phase 1 or Main Phase 2. Somehow, mentioning that slipped my mind.

Hey so i had a question on what happens when you send monsters to the grave for a fusion monster. Do the pendulum monsters from the field go to the extra deck and the ones from the hand go to the grave or do they all go to the grave?

NEPTY I am one of those returning players. I have yo say, I think link summoning is the worst thing I've ever seen. Hands down. I can't compete with anyone on my ps4 game. Totally blows

I have no problem with fusion, ritual, synchro, or XYZ but pendulum and link summon seem unfair I mean come on they're the only card that cannot be send to the graveyard very hard to get rid off and you can special as many monster as you want ( My only solution to pendulum and link summon is that they limited to only one per turn so you don't mass an army quickly)

Man this mechanic sounded so good right up to the point where pendulum monsters go to the extra deck. It's a monster that can also be a spell. Awesome! it gives players options during a game as well as when designing a deck. No need to overcomplicate things with extra conditions when the monsters dies or extra special summoning mechanics when two pendulums are on the field. The mechanic could have been great but they drove it straight of a cliff

Yeah konami stop making new mechanics in the game that keep it fresh and interesting! Thinking is hard and I don't think I can learn all these new rules in this card game for literal children! Waaaaaa. This stuff isn't that complicated and makes the game super dynamic and interesting. Magic the Gathering has been stale as heck for years because of the lack of innovation allowed by the fans. They lose their minds if any tiny thing is changed. It's really ridiculous how weird people get about this stuff. Change is good. Just roll with it and learn the mechanics.

Can you basically summon your entire deck in one turn. And while you're at it. You can completely block out and negate anything they can do to stop you.

Cimoooooooo Pendulum Monster which would activate an effect from the extra deck after they were destroyed, and get with for example from solemn strike the effect negated and destroyed, are sent to the graveyard and can activate their effect again if the condition to activate is "if this card is destroyed by battle or card effects", right ?

Raul Saulcedo How were Ritual and Fusion summons complicated? You literally just combine monster cards or follow the directions on the card to summon a monster. These cards add on a whole new set of rules that not only over complicate the game, but changes the game rules to a monster summoning fest.

@@PurpleEyedMint ok, this is easy then, just look up the first episode of Arc-V when he does the first time pendulum summon you will see him saying that line. However the first part I'm not sure if it's something he started saying after this. But look it up, should have clips of his first pendulum summoning here on YT, and I'm sure every other time he did it he has said those lines.

When I started playing yugioh I refused to learn pendulum cards because I thought they were too complicated. But now I’ve been playing the game for longer and watched this video, I’m really gonna start trying to learn this play style by making an odd eyes deck. Also I’ve saved this playlist on how to play yugioh so I can start teaching my friends how to play to :)

I know a lot of people saying "Man this game is way to complicated" personally, I love this. This is peak yu-gi-oh, overcomplicated things is the most fun things to do. Especially the theory crafting theres so much cards that you can almost find anything to do what you want.

The issue is that none of these mechanics are straight forward, nor explained anywhere but the rule book. You can read and interpret a complicated card, but pendulum monsters have so many overcomplicated conditions that aren't found anywhere else in the game that it becomes a chore to just remember how to play them.

I'm relieved to have found your videos, Cimo. They are really helpful. I'm a returning player (I've stopped a little after GX came) and was overwhelmed with so many new elements and summoning methods. I still think current Yu-Gi-Oh! is overcomplicated and that there are too many OP combos now, but I already understand how the new mechanics work and how to play with them, and I'm having a little fun trying things out. Adding to this video, one other way pendulum monsters would go to the graveyard and not face-up in the extra deck is when they are attached to an Xyz summoned monster. When you remove a pendulum monster attached as Xyz material from an Xyz monster, they go straight to the Graveyard. Hope that was helpful.

Now ... I pendulum summon 4 monsters... fusion summon a monster placing it in my one extra deck monster zone ... then I ritual summon a monster with the monsters in my regular monster card zones ... then I link summon a monster using my fusion monster and ritual summoned monster... then I summoned a tuner when I pendulum summoned so now I synchro summon a monster and can do it because I have a link monster that points to that zone ...then I use monster reborn on a fusion monster that can be special summoned by other ways in order to then use my scycro monster and fusion monster as xyz material to summon my xyz monster and use his union effect 😐

The more I've been using the Endymion cards I got from the structure deck I really like the pendulum mechanics. I like also that it's a new type of card for the main deck instead of being another extra deck card type.

Really glad I stopped playing Yu-Gi-Oh because that is some BS. Basically without any tributes I could pendulum summon several other ridiculously powerful monsters that usually required tributes from my hand or extra Deck.

Yes. I built a deck with just that purpose. Only thing is I always lose. You have to realize the highest most scales go without restrictions is 8, so you can only summon LEVEL 7 and LOWER, which honestly isn't bad, most decks use Level 8+ bosses. And say you Pend 3 LV 7s then what? You make 1 Rank 7 Xyz? You attack with 3 Mediocre beatsicks? After that you can only summon 1 Pendulum Back at a time, 0 if your EMZ is blocked. And any good competitive deck worth their salt can EASILY deal with 3 2500 Beaters, most Meta Decks outplay Pendulum at Everything. You think combos, you think effort is gone? Have you SEEN the meta?? They do insane combos, going through huge effort to extra deck spam, compared to that Pendulums are lackluster, so you don't know what youre talking about.

I stopped playing just after that awakening the dragons arch of the anime. So when I bought the legacy of the duelist game on steam for some nostalgia I was completely lost with all these xyz, synchro, and pendulum summon stuff. I figured out the synchro and xyz stuff pretty easy since they are more or less the same premise to how you would summon a normal lvl 5 or higher monster, you just need more specific cards. But this pendulum crap still alludes me XD. Seems pretty op.

Pendulum monsters are actually pretty vulnerable if you negate their summon or bottomless trap hole the monsters if you do you’ll get the last laugh

Sonny Richey if there was a 100 card deck limit i doubt anyone would actually reach it. The majority of decks right now are at 40 cards with some refusing to go any over 40 when the deck limit is 60 and the minimum is 40. Not to mention that the very early days of yugioh literally had no deck limit.

My Majes were killed by the Link. Please Komoney, give us Kirin back with Errata, something that would only fit Majespecters deck. Errata on Kirin: Can only return Wind Spellcasters from your side of the field to activate it's effect. Then it would only be playable in Majes and would not be as shit ton of ultra fuckery OP as it was. And give us some Maje support for recovering scales and summoning from Extra.

@ProTheGrammer Actually that was the ruling in Master Rule 4, yes. But since April this year we got Master Rule 4.5/5/2020 (however you want to call it) Now you can SS Extra Deck Monster (except for Links) to the Main Monster Zone, just as it was before Links. As you can see, Link Monsters are the exception here: In order to SS a Link Monster into a Main Monster Zone, you need another Link Monster that points to that specific Zone. Hope this helps!

I think the part of pendulum summoning that I keep getting confused by, other than the field to extra deck/ anywhere else to GY, is that you can only summon monster in between the scales, meaning 1 level higher than the lower scale, to 1 level lower than the higher scale, as opposed to "from scale to scale".

Snowbound Whale that’s correct unless there are type or archetype or summoning restrictions any monster barring ritual monsters can be pendulum summoned if the level is between the 2 scale numbers which is why there are so few scales that go below 3 and above 8 that don’t have restrictions and most that do are tied to summoning their archetype only.

When I started playing Yu-Gi-Oh the first deck I build was a Pendulum Magician deck out of a booster pack called *Pendulum Evolution.* I had no idea what Pendulum monsters were or how you use them until my friends looked at my deck, flip the fuck out!, and show me how to abuse it. @@raulsalcedo8332 Using Zefraath's effect, but I think it's limited to Zefra cards, and you have to summon Zefraath using it's tribute summoning effect so it's not that easy or powerful except under very special conditions.

So the first thing you want to do is get monsters like Electrumite into the extra monster zone, and other link monsters, proxy dragon or tri-gate wizard, as examples, into the center zone, which opens three monster zones for extra deck summoning.

That's more advanced, but yes, you want to maximize your field with pendulum summoning as possible. Another useful tool if your deck quickly fills the extra deck with pendulums is using effects that recover pendulum monsters from the extra deck to your hand like Oafdragon Magician, Pendulum Paradox, etc.

Thanks, that video added on the konami one I just watched; the game is definitely a hell of a lot more complicated than i used to be when you'd just lay a few traps and throwing down a 1,400 beater then pass the turn. I'm still wrapping my head around links and penduloms, let alone knowing what the hell to do with a synchro pendulem lol. The game is a hell of a lot harder to get into now lol, I kinda wish Yugioh would do set rotations.

One key thing people seem to miss with their knee-jerk judgement that a particular mechanic in a game is OP is that it's Player versus Player. At least give it a try before you decide in a vacuum that it's too powerful. If you aren't willing to give it a try because it seems to complicated or you just don't like the idea of it in general, that's fine and totally fair. But then you have to accept that you just don't know what you're talking about, and that's fine too.

I would like to thank you, as a avid Yu-Gi-Oh player since around 2003, I have always enjoyed the game and its new additions. However, after graduating from High-School, I took a 3 year break from the game as I moved and didn't bring my cards with me. Just recently, I have begun to play again as I have found a local card shop but the new rules with Pendulum and Link summoning has thrown me for a loop and I keep getting beat. I have used your video to help myself learn the new rules for Link and Pendulum summoning to help myself create a deck that uses them, as I have be keeping to what I knew. So, thanks again and keep up the good work.

Soooo I was an avid yugioh fan in my childhood but I started to drop off during the GX era. I recently got interested in it again and knew there were a bunch of new monster summons. I think I get Synchros and Xyz's now, but... Wow I'm going to have to watch this a couple times. Pendulum monsters are so beyond everything I used to know about the game haha At least the other 2 follow pretty basic rules similar to other monsters, but damn these look crazy to me. Man, YuGiOh got fricken WEIRD while I was gone lol But they do look interesting, so I'll learn eventually lol Thanks for the clear, thorough explanation. I'm not a big fan of just READING the rules, it's nice to have someone explain and show it visually. So I appreciate that.

Fuckin... damn. I've only been gone a few years. This shit is over the TOP. I currently play Magic, Netrunner, Warhammer (Invasion and Conquest), Arkham Horror, and Legend of the Five Rings. Yugioh is somehow the most complicated. These games all have their intricacies, but Yugioh just seems to have SO much going on at any given time with all these different summoning rules and all these cards filled completely filled with text. Honestly, I understand it, but the problem is now TEACHING this shit to my wife and a friend or two. I don't even know where I'd begin. I feel like I'd need to create a series of learning decks that gradually escalate in mechanics. Eesh.

I was understanding it up until it mixed with Synchro and XYZ monsters. From what I understand, for the most part they’re just effect monsters that can be used as spell cards. Kinda like Union monsters as equip spells to certain monsters. But how does Pendulum work with Synchros and XYZs?

Well in my experience with pendulum hybrids (using magician of hope, enlightenment paladin etc.) pendulum monsters that are also another type( xyz, synchro, fusion) are summoned like any other fusion, synchro or xyz and can then be moved to the pendulum zone if space is available through card effects(either their own or through another card) i.e pendulum back allows you to transfer a card from your monster zone to your pendulum zone and vice versa and Nirvana High Paladin's effect allows it to be moved to the pendulum zone once destroyed

I had a good idea of Pendulum Summons from a few clips of the Arc-V anime. This is even better. Now...I wonder if I can find some Pendulum Monsters that are Warriors to go in my E•HERO/Warrior Beatdown Deck...need something to replace all those nice Xyz Warriors that Links have effectively T-Wrecked for now. Being able to spam the field would be lovely, and I could probably relegate Hero's Bond to the Side Deck or something.
