If you are interested in learning the process of polishing paint, Mike Phillips, an expert in car detailing, highly recommends starting with a test spot. A test spot is a small area of the car where you can test the product and techniques you plan to use before applying them to the entire vehicle. This is a crucial step that helps you determine if the product you are using is compatible with your paint and ensures that you achieve the desired results. Starting with a test spot can save you time and money by preventing damage to your vehicle's paint and preventing you from using ineffective products.

Mikes great, I can flat polish with most pads no issue but with those twisted wools mike is correct about going a little on edge with rotary. Flat is a finishing technique. Ive been 6-12 pads for the first stage of correction for decades, keeps you in the maximum performance window and eliminates reworks. The rotary is my favourite

Whats the name of the AIO Mike uses? If protection can last almost a yeae, seems like this AIO is a winner, as long as its easy to wipe off as well.

They broke their contract with me after Tunch the old owner sold his company to a Private Equity Company. If they’ll break their word once - they’ll do it again.

Probably the most disturbing thing I ever heard of somebody's mouth who claims Vera detailer, if it worked on this panel it'll work on all the other panels, was completely delusional and quite disturbing here on this channel. SMFH

So? What’s the correct way - or YOUR way of teaching a class how to do a Test Spot and then - buff out the rest of the car. Please share! 😊

@@mikephillipsrealworlddetailing I guess you didn't comprehend what I said, what works on one panel doesn't always work on every other panel and that was the comment you made as it does work on one panel it'll work on all. And that's straight BS. You can easily do a fender with one type of compound and pad and then when you get to the hood or the trunk you could run into a a situation where it needs to be mowed down with different compounds and different pads. But your statement, was if the polish works on this panel it will work on all the other panels and that's just not true. I've been this industry for 40 years and I've seen just about everything and really don't have the patience to teach people how to polish a vehicle. I guess I'll leave that up to the KZfaq and Facebook detailers of America, which could be pretty scary

@@willsrestorations - Hi Will, the last thing I want to do is argue with anyone on social media. The fact is, you and I probably have more in common than we have in differences simply because we have both been detailing cars for about the same amount of time. I re-watched the entire video this morning and I'll stick to what I said. In most cases, if you dial-in a successful process on the hood or trunk like, it's also going to work on the rest of the body panels. THE EXCEPTION is if a body panel is repainted. Then the repaint maybe softer or harder than the factory paint. This can happen but it is the exception to the rule or the exception to what I said. Even if a car has been wrecked and has different paint on different body panels, there's a good chance the process you dialed-in for your Test Spot will still work. A really good chance, thus it's still not an issue. Granted, I did a Test Spot on a Porsche Macan a few months ago and the process I dialed-in on the hood did not work on the rest of the body panels. The reason why is because the hood had been repainted. Once I noticed the factory paint was MUCH harder than the repaint - I called the owner and he confirmed that "yes" in fact the hood had been repainted. I did a second Test Spot on a door and discovered it would require an additional compounding step to remove the years of car wash scratches and I adjusted the price accordingly. So, I'm well aware that in some instances, the Test Spot you perform on one panel may not mean the process will work on all panels - but this is still the exception to the rule - not the norm. I'm teaching a 3-day class starting this weekend. And like shown in this video, the first day the class will start out learning how to use a rotary polisher on the trashed paint on a 1937 Ford 2-door Sedan Streetrod. (black). And I will demonstrate the exact same process shown in this video. Nothing wrong with having different opinions, this is America. You stick to your opinion, and I'll continue to teach my opinion and I'm confident the 1937 Ford 2-door Sedan Streetrod is going to look like a black mirror when my students are done with it. Happy to discuss over the phone with you anytime. My personal cell number is below. Here's a picture of just 1 of the cars that will be here for this hands-on class. *themikephillipsforum.com/media/1937fordfastback001-jpg.2320/full* -Mike Phillips 760-515-044
