i just installed a used bumper today on my chevy pickup and then i tried your trick and thanks, it really does work. i picked up the used bumper for 30.00. so i saved a couple bucks for sure. thanks again and keep them coming.

That came out good...but maybe try it on a bumper that has not been plated within the past 10 yrs...try it on an original bumper...

To remove the rust give the soapy s.o.s pads a try. Rub lightly. 👍🏽

Dupont makes a chrome polish takes elbow grease but will cut surface rust. Mother's makes a chrome polish in bottle that paste you have is aluminum polish.

I used lemon juice - it cleans parts really well, then I got some citric acid from the pharmacy and made a stronger solution for cleaning off handbrake parts pre plating - which is much easier than you would think, also citric acid is more friendly

Yeah. I have other greater needs before it though. Doing a vinyl top delete and quarter panel repair so the janky front bumper is low on the list unless I see a cheap one locally.

hopefully you dont run into rust when you remove the vinyl top. those things are moisture traps

There's already quarter rust at the lower seam. However the good part is it's just exterior right now so it -shouldn't- be that huge of a deal to take care of. The pain in the ass part is that from the factory they didn't finish the metal under the top and just covered it with the vinyl. So.. Going to have to do full body work to smooth and make it decent. Plus find all the right trim. It's going to suck but that's what you do for cars you're dumb enough to love. lol

Dont need all that stuff Steel wool and turtle wax will work its old trick im all most in my 50s i been using steel wool 0000 and turtle wax in my teens it woks its less work...

I've used coca cola and steal wool on chrome bumpers to remove rust. Surprisingly it works great.

a pink spot showed up after polishing? Tried mothers mag polish on a scratch, then a pink chrome spot happened. later that spot got rust. Then I tried this to get off the rust. rust is gone but also a little more pink lines

That's probably the copper in the first layer of the chroming process coming through. A proper triple plate chrome is first plated in copper, then nickel, and finally chrome.

WD-40 gives a temporary shine it's what car dealerships use to make a cars paint look brand new.

No, we do not. 😂 That would only serve to turn the vehicle into a dust magnet! Which is why I personally don’t use Armor All on the tires, dust magnet. I use Westleys Blech-White on the tires, cleans them like new! But we do use polymer polishes to do what you suggest. 👍 On second thought… Perhaps there are some dealers doing that dumb shit!!!
